Just wanted to share this, since I had already posted about the release of my third novel.

I received commmunication from the publisher last night. Unfortunately, the independent press who published my first two books seems to be folding. They released my third book from contract. This is not a complete surprise, as I had suspected they were having problems for awhile now.

They are a great group of folks, and I shall always bless them for believing in me. The fact that I have been able to put two novels in my 90-year-old mother's hands is beyond my dreams.

So, here I am, back in the game again. I have learned a great deal about the business, particularly about the marketing end of things. Now, I search for a publisher. Funny, it feels as if I'm going through a divorce.

Does this mean I have to lose weight and buy a new wardrobe?

Hey, it's a good excuse!

Seriously...I'm sorry to hear about what's just happened to your publisher. But look at it this way - perhaps this will give you an opportunity to find a publisher who'll be even a better "fit" for you.

I understand that it feels like a divorce. It's a major disappointment and it's knocked the wind out of you. So allow yourself to be upset and be angry...for a little while. And pick yourself up and go on. Remember that what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger! Good luck!

Sorry about the bad news.
I'm sure you will find a new publisher for your work.

Madhatter, may I ask if it was a self- publishing company or not?

I would think after having two published books, your way for a third published book is paved for you.

As far as losing weight and buying a new wardrobe…that's cute. At least there are no custody fights or lawyer bills… Or are there?

I believe truly this decision will in time prove to be a turning point. It releases you to look anew and I agree having had two books published merits praise.
When the one door opening after another closing was told to me....I felt "O yes says who"
I was wrong...
Tell me about your other books (by PM if you wish)
Take care.

madhatter,

What about your other books? Will you need to place them with another publisher as well or will they stay in print with this one?

All my best to you...I know you'll find the perfect fit...

Shucky darn... this won't stop you though, right?
Must be time for you to start your own publishing company and publish Women Boomer works, only. So many women are writing these days and the pool will probably get even bigger as the younger boomers decide to put their thoughts in print.

Editing to add... I received an email not too long ago about publishing mistakes... I saved the free file offer in my Adobe files... will go search it out. Seems it was offered by a woman publishing interest... if anyone cares

It's not from a publishing company and I can't send the adobe file that I referenced above, but I can give you a link to the site where the freebie is offered... http://www.thebooksistah.com.
Why I thought this pertained to this thread I can't really say...lol, but I'll share the site link, anyway.

Sorry to hear about your publisher. Jane had a good question. What position does that put your other books in? Will you now have to find homes for all three?

Good luck with your publishers search. If you have any questions about a particular publisher, go ahead and ask. THere are lots of ways to check up on them.

I'm so sad to hear your news. Take a deep breath and look around for someone else. If you had good numbers on the other two, you should be able to jump back in with a new publisher. Don't give up, you'll find a new home for your books.
