I thought I'd throw my 2 cents into the mix. Not only is oatmeal, oat bran, and Cheerios helpful in lowering your cholesterol; so are walnuts, almonds and pecans. Adding a handful or two a day have been shown to lower cholesterol.

Guess what? I told the hub about this and he's now eating oatmeal with me every morning!

P.S. Walnuts and almonds are also brain food.

It's been 3 months since I started the Zetia and I had blood drawn yesterday........should have results from doc's office in a few days. Hoping to hear that it's lowering my cholesterol and I can just continue at the same dose, but who knows. Will be relieved when doc's office calls with results. Will post when they call and let you all know!

Doc's office called this afternoon. Believe it or not my cholesterol came down over 40 points in 3 months!! (from 265, back in January, to 221 now). They just want me to continue taking the same dosage and have it checked again in June. I'm really amazed!! Was hoping for good results but this was even better than I expected!!

cook the oat meal and you have porridge, put in dried fruits when cooking to sweeten it then you dont need suger or honnie, it fills you up till way after lunch as its a slow relising carbohydrate....
saying that i gotta get back onto porrige, ya can even make it in the microwave so no messie pots....
i stoped eating it becouse l was sick of it he now wants rice krispies and yougart still i should make the effort and make it for myself....
i am using simovan....the first one i had made me feel strange and incressed nightmares...so i stoped using them for 6 yrs or so....now been back on thes things for couple mounths and still feel quessie....
porridge be a better option eh!!

I've known thin people who were diagnosed with high chloestrol.

I just take 4-5 tablespoons of quick cooking oats into a microwaveable container, add some water and zap microwave for 50 seconds. Add some milk ..my oatmeal tends to be milky not gloppy, thick.

That's my breakfast along with 1/2 grapefruit. Before I dash off for work commute..at 5:30 am.

I know that alot of joggers and cyclists prefer oatmeal as slow-release healthy carb, fibre, etc. in morning, instead of much bread.
