I've written a new piece on New Year Resolutions and thought I'd share it with you.

It's on my blog.

I hope you enjoy it.

Now that's a great article Vicki! I'd love permission to post it on my site with your picture as the "guest" baby boomer writer of the week.

But you always write good stuff!

Very good Vicki....I'm with you gal, give me chocolate, or give me de----chocolate....

I never set resolutions, but I do keep HOPE for the new year alive by setting attainable, reachable, and sensible (there's your logic) goals. And fun. I make sure there's fun involved.

Another good article Vic!

Great article, Vicki. I gave up making New Year's resolutions years ago because they became one more source of stress during a time when the last thing I needed was more stress. Now I just continue pursuing a healthier lifestyle that fosters my emotional/mental stability, feeds me reliable energy and stamina, and nurtures enough spiritual serenity to see me through those stresses and situations that I can't control.

But I did add one "resolution" this year - to enjoy more cheesecake. I've been depriving myself...though the reasons are hazy now. But last night we had some pumpkin cheesecake and have to admit that the feeling of utter ecstasy at that first bite is a gift I ought to - and want to - be giving myself a lot more often this year...

Vicki, we have so much in common. I'm also going to dote on my new grandson and spoil my dog and parrot!

My other resolution (er, I haven't gotten around to updating my blog yet...) is to submit more work. So I have been working on that and have submitted five stories this week. Of course, it will probably be months before I know how they did! My goal is to submit 5 more pieces before the end of the month.

My resolution was to submit 10 stories before the end of January. I've reached that goal and have another story almost ready to send out.

Now, my other resolution was to update my blog - still haven't done that one!

dejavu, now that's a resolution worth doing. Great idea. Congrats on all ten submissons. Were they all written this year? What type of writing are you submitting? Who are you submitting to?

Dotsie,
They are all short stories. A couple were written a while ago, but most are new stories. Most were submitted to competitions, but 4 were submitted to online magazines. And I won't find out if any have won or been accepted for up to four months from now. (That's the hardest part about submitting work!)

I have just finished the above-mentioned work-in-progress, too, and will be submitting it tomorrow.

Is anyone else entering the Gather.com novel competition? It's like an American Idol contest - millions will enter, one will win. I've decided to give it a shot. If you're interested, info available at Gather.com
