A real time saver is to be able to access information quickly and easily. Unfortunately, with information overload that many of us experience, we might be tempted to "save" a document for future reading. Before you know it, you have hundreds of "must read" documents that we easily download for a later read.

About once a month, go through your "must read" computer docs and delete those that you no longer find interest in. Amazingly, many that you thought were oh so important are no longer that big a deal.

Now if only I could convince my mother of the photograph idea. Since I was a young girl I would hear her talk about "someday" I will have to organize those pictures.

It's amazing how many people live in the someday place with just about anything. Someday I will take that trip, someday I will eat healthy, someday I will change jobs, someday I will write that book.

The fact is, someday is today. If we constantly talk about someday we will..... it is a huge energy zapper.

Wow! were those pictures ever a trigger. :-)

I'm horrible at hoarding magazine articles, magazines, newspaper articles, computer files, pictures, you name it.

I do go through the computer files once in a while and trim them down.

With the magazine articles and newspaper articles, I file them in large binders. I call them my idea books. This way if I ever have an inclination to write about a particular topic, I already have sources available.

As for the pictures. I'm just lost. One thing that my husband did for me was set me up with a photo gallery on my web server. This way I can upload all the photos I want from my digital camera and store them in folders and file them with key words for searches later. That's made it so much easier. Now I just need to get a handle on the rest of my photos lying around the house.

Do you all still order pictures from your digital photos?

There is nothing like sitting on the couch and leafing through a beautiful photo album. It's different then sitting at your computer, clicking away on all the pictures, don't you think?

This Christmas I ordered a photo album, for my hubby, online. You can arrange the pictures and the size of each picture for each page. You can type in the captions and select how the album should be bound. I chose wine red leather. It came to 85 pages! And the entire thing cost only $28.00. I ordered it over a German site, but they must have that in English too. It was so much fun to do, and it came out beautifully.

Hannelore, I've seen that type of thing via Macintosh Apple iPhoto. That is a vey nice gift. And the price seems so reasonable. Every time I visit my parents, which is not too often, I organize their pics for them. The best part is that I get to edit what goes in, or out. For example, there was one pic of me in my "fat" phase at age 14. I decided to allow it into the album because it was a piece of herstory. My favorite was assembling my mother's pictures from the 50s. Her nickname was "Venus" and I could see why. She looked like a glamorous movie star. She had a flair for fashion, but only on sale. She could make the cheap look chic. Some pics of her were so great that a collection of them I had to put into a collage frame. My problem at home is that I have too many pics of my doggies, who are my favorite subjects and best entertainment! Kathleen, what did you mean by those pictures being a trigger?

My Mother looked so stylish and classy in her old photos too. I loved the fashions way back then. Lynnie, how about positing a picture of your Mom in one of those fancy dresses. If you do, I will too! This could be fun.

JJ, you look like your Mom! She's lovely, what a pretty smile. Was she wearing a bow?
I'll dig up a picture tonight to post. Saundra, maybe you can bring a picture to a local computer club. I'm sure they would scan it and send for you!

Wow! That's great! JJ you do look like your mom. Now I have to go look for pictures. I don't know if I have one of her like that though. I have one of her mother that was painted on silk. It has a few holes in it, but I scanned it once. I just don't know where it is now. I must have put it on a disk.

I know if I looked longer I'd find a better picture, but I think they are all stowed in a box, under my mom's bed. ugh
Well I did find this one, taken in 1949...yes that's me in the middle (the one with the white Christening dress). My mother is on the left, then my grandmother and my father.
Hey anyone else with pictures????

I started another way to organize some of my pictures...got several boxes and marked each one for someone special (kids, nieces, nephews, etc.) and picked out the ones I thought they would enjoy having in their stash. Copied a few to the folders in my online files and presented the others to them as a special gift. They loved them!

Welcome, tannermom! That's a good idea. I know my mom is doing something like that for all her grandkids now.

I just haven't had (or haven't taken) the time to organize my pics in two years. Someday....

Hannelore,
Danita is right. That is beautiful. I loved it. What a handsome couple and your Mom is so pretty! Such a sincere look of love in all those faces. Danita, I need to do the card thing too. Help?

Tannermom! Girl, you came in and took us by surprise! I love it. Welcome girlfriend. I hope you'll tell us all more about yourself. WELCOME! WELCOME! You're gonna love it here. Too much, too. It will be an addiction before you know it. Spread your wings and enjoy yourself. We're so glad you are here.

Welcome, Tannermom. Good idea for pics. I have a suitcase full.
Old photos look so nice. Black and White not done much anymore.
I wonder, do the new cameras have that option?

HANNILORE
thats pic is what i love about family pics big circle of warmth and theirs you in the middle pricless.......

if the digital camera dosent have the B&W function then the photo editers do, will turn couler photo's into black and white (look from 60's etc) or if it's their then "sepia" will give you the tones from the age of the photograph like hannilres.... just a sutle diffrence but might be important to someone

but i do love the photo packages and digital art, now. ....makes me a much better photographer lol and instant results.....but i do still miss the old days sometimes.......

just thinking there a whole generasion will never know any of those small pleasures of the old fashioned way lol 35mm and SLR cameras, pity lol. Well I thought it was a pleasure in a good photo that way

When each of my sons got married, I invited him and his new bride over for dinner and then let them go through all my pictures and taske the ones they wanted. The 'oohs' an 'aahs' from the girls was priceless. It cut my stash down considerably and my DIL's were both just thrilled to have the pictures.

My husband bought me one of those digital photo frames for our anniversary while we were in NH. I can download and store up to 10,000 pictures in 20 albums in it. It's easy to use. I can download right from the camera card or from the pc. I do still love real hard copy pictures though and photo albums and scrapbooks, but I don't miss the old way of taking pictures. I love digital. I don't miss burning my fingers on flashbulbs or my Brownie camera either But, the old photographs are great. Hannelore, that is one awesome photo!

Now that I'm home, I will just have to find something to post here.

I can't seem to find that silk screen of my grandmother. Now, I'm on a mission to find it. I found an old newspaper photo of my father's jewelry store that is 59 hears old and in excellent condition.
