"If I Could Save Time In A Bottle"...Embracing Our Authentic Selves - Ageless

Robin Svedi is a wife, mother, freelance writer, and baby boomer. She has dozens of essays and articles published online. She writes silly poems when she isn’t working.

    Ageless

The mirror tells no lies they say
So how then, can this be
The person that I’m looking at
    Can’t possibly be me.

I feel the same. I think the same.
    Inside I haven’t changed,
But when I see my reflection
    It seems all rearranged.

    There’s hills and valleys everywhere
    And certain things have dropped.
What once was flat and sinewy,
Looks like it should be chopped.

    I’ve watched my parents age
And I’ve seen my children grow,
But I thought that when it happened to me,
I’d be the first to know.
