JJ already has my advice on the stove.

I have a working stove. It's in my kitchen which is a combination mausaleum, monument, and museum. The mausaleum part has a a lot of dead stuff in jars and the museum exibits various out dated cooking devices from the days when I actually cooked. Then there are monuments to folks like Sara Lee, Mr. McDonald, and Betty Crocker, all of whom influence my present cuiinary preferences.

My overall cooking philosophy is, if you can't buy it while driving through, or microwave it, don't eat it.

I say forget the stove. Buy something useful like new shoes.
