Thank you so much for the link, Yonuh.

I was particularly touched by the story of Soung and Dante. I have a soft spot for Burma because of a nun who taught me as a child, when she ended up in my school after she was expelled by the Burmese authorities. She taught me Chesu thimbathee which is Burmese for "God bless and Thank you" as well as Teh chait deh for "I love you". Funny how the phrases came to mind so quickly after so many years.

The country remains a closed society and under a repressive military regime, where the duly elected president, Aung San Suu Kyi, has been under house arrest for many years now. It is wonderful to find that Soung has made it to the States. Many from his Karen tribe still languish at the Thai border. The international community seemed to have forgotten about Burma. Many thanks once again. It is very rare to come across "happy endings" about the Burmese people.
