I heard a news report on NPR about a school of 50 children with autism temporarily closed because one of the teachers came down with SARS. It was quite moving because the founder, whose child has autism was concerned with quarentining the children and parents who attend the school or sending them home. The founder is an eloquent, English speaking, chinese woman boomer who really struggled with reporting those who left the school to the authorities while worrying about the remaining group. It was quite a story which choked me up. She's struggling to keep the school open and I thought it would be worth posting today to have anyone check out NPR's website or hers www.autismchina.org. Can you imagine trying to fund a school of 50 students in China? We do a wonderful job in supporting boomers close to home but this touched my heart and I thought I share with the forum.
