Ladies,

Writer Kathy Fulgham contacted me through my site and asked for help. She is looking for short, funny anecdotes and helpful advice to add to her book entitled "The Girlfriendly Guide to Having a Hysterectomy." Please send submissions to: kathie_fulgham@yahoo.com

Details:
Imagine a group of girlfriends preparing their
soon-to-be-uterus-free friend with their personal stories about the surgery,
the hospital "experience" and the long recovery. Topics range from surgically induced menopause mania to stylish ways to hide the catheter bag
and muddling through other delicate pre- and post-operative procedures involved in the removal of your baby-bake oven.
Please include your first name, age, city and state where you live, and year since you've been uterus-free. We also need to know what
type of hysterectomy you had (vaginal, abdominal, laparoscopic, etc.) and
why you had the surgery (cancer, uterus falling out, endometriosis, etc.).

Although the book is meant to be informative and funny, hysterectomies are no laughing matter. It is the most common non-pregnancy-related major surgery performed on women in the United
States. More than one in three American women will have a hysterectomy by the time she is 60 years old.

While there is a wealth of medical information available to women via the Web, their physicians, numerous books and journal articles, no one has addressed the "everything you wanted to know about having your uterus yanked
out but were afraid to ask."

Women need reassurance; they want to hear from someone who has first-hand experience. That someone is a girlfriend. In the same
way that girlfriends guide girlfriends through pregnancy, divorce or even the loss of
a loved one, this book gives practical advice and hilarious anecdotes from girlfriends to girlfriend.

The author will donate a portion of the book sales to cancer research.
