My daughter got me into hockey and I have been going to AHL games this year (farm team for the Edmonton Oilers) and following the playoffs like a junkie. I can discuss who is the better goalie, whether a team is good on the Power Kill, and who has deadlier shooters. Who would have thought? It's like a disease but it's a lot of fun.
This year, there's an almost-Boomer aspect to the playoffs: the oldest goalie in the NHL is one of the huge breakout stars. He's 41 and his team just steamrollered through the second round of the playoffs. And he seems really nice.

Ellemm, I used to follow hockey when I was in high school and college -- I lived in Wisconsin then where hockey is played religiously by little boys, sort of like they play football in Texas.
Yonuh, my kids and my husband like the same football teams, so they talk football whenever they are together. Steve is originally a Kansas City Chiefs fan, but the kids are Packer fans, so he has become one...
Sounds like you both are having a ball, however, and that is great!
I don't really follow any sports these days, though I do like to watch figure skating during the Winter Olympics. Left alone to find something to watch on TV, I'm usually looking at the Food Network, HGTV or Hallmark...
In the past few years I have noted that my mother has become much more of a pro football fan than she ever was when I was a kid. And based on what you two are saying, perhaps I need to get back to hockey...

Speaking of crazy things, there is something I've always wanted to do since a teenager, yet have not.
I'm on a budget and rarely go to a movie theater, rather wait for the DVD. When I do attend a movie theater, I will sneak in my own drink and snacks. Yep, thats right, along with millions of other Americans I sneak my snacks!
Having said that, the crazy thing I've always wanted to do - to chicken and honest to do so - is to see a movie and then sneak into another afterwards!
Hah! There, I've said it!
But, will I do it?

But, will I do it? Oh, I had to laugh. I'm always being accused of being too honest...taking change back to the cashier if she gives me too much, etc. But I DID do exactly that once, a very long time ago. I was unemployed at the time, terribly lonely and bored, and managed to scrape together enough change to afford to go to a movie one afternoon. After that one, I so didn't want to go home to my empty apartment, and there was NOBODY around at all, so I snuck into the next theatre and watched another movie. I swear I was the only person in the entire theatre complex, so they had to have known that I snuck in, but they ran the movie and never said a word. I still don't remember which movies I saw, but it WAS sort of fun to have done it that one time. I've never even been tempted to do it again, though.

And I did do something that, for me, was sort of crazy a few weeks ago. It stems back to when I found out that my cancer was only Stage 1A and didn't require further treatment. One of my first thoughts after crying for joy was "I want purple hair". It took me a few months to get up the nerve, but finally I did go in about 4 weeks ago and asked my hairdresser to give me a few purple streaks. It ended up being more pink than purple, but it goes with more of my clothes, so that worked out okay. I've received so many positive comments, and so many odd stares, and even some looks of apparent disapproval. But I don't care, I know why I did it, for me it was/is a celebration of life, spring, Easter and sheer joy for being alive. My hairdresser said it would wash out in 2 weeks, but I'm going into my 5th week and it's still there. Whoo hoo!!

Am not sure if "crazy" is the right term here. More= "non stereotypical activites not expected out of girls/women at certain ages?" I don't even consider my cycling "crazy" nor atypical at all because I know enough women around my age and older who cycle regularily ..and some longer distances. But yea, cycling around at my age with a doll and taking photos is abit nutso Ends up in this blog post about global bike doll relay that I posted elsewhere. My partner was initially mortified. Then he got into the spirit in the park when we found a bison statue...

I would love to see the pic, too, Eagle! Around here, one of the most interesting women is a gal a bit too young to be a Boomer -- I think she is only about 35 -- but she went through a period when she had pink hair. For years. Seems she's gone back to blonde again, but I loved her hair as it showed verve and individuality. She's a techie -- she and her brother own a software development company that specializes in high-end email software for large volume, time critical, opt-in mailing lists. Not sure of all the details, but I know the system is favored by entities which send out a BOATLOAD of email and require security. But at the same time, she also owns a bar on Main Street here in Galena, called Miss Kitty's Grape Escape. So the pink hair thing went well with the bar -- and I am sure it made her more memorable when she attended software developer conferences. Here's a link to the bar site with a cartoon of Miss Kitty when she had pink hair: Grape Escape Galena So show us your pink hair, Eagle!

Crazy? WEll, maybe talking to my chickens is crazy for some.
I call them for their scratch time..."Took, took, took, took"...and they come a-runnin'.... And I pick them up and pet them, massage underneath their wings.
I give my dogs nicknames, too:
Farmer: Farmee Butt Dodge: Da-boy Munchie: Munny,Munny, Munny Sally Jean, Sow-y Jean Boo Boo Barbie: Boolie Boolie Cocoa: Cokes
