Do you all change up your skincare routine during the winter? I definitely use more hand cream and like to put a lot on then wear gloves at night to keep my hands from getting dry and cracked. Do others have skincare tips they swear by too?

It's dry here all year round so no, I don't change my routine for winter. Drinking lots of water here is very important as the humidity is usually less than 10%, except during monsoons when it stays around 30% or more.

Drinking water is so important! I try and drink as much as I can throughout the day...but it's hard to keep up sometimes. I also use Eucerin Calming Creme to deal with "winter itch" caused by very dry skin. It's wonderfully soothing and keeps my skin moisturized all day. Has anyone else tried it?

I only use our own Unrefined Shea Butter.....have been for 11 years now. Commercial moisturizers have turned me off since I've read so much about additives like alcohol, water, air ("whipped") etc. They no longer have a place in our home!

And my Shea Butter you can even put on your hair, scalp, cuticles, feet, face and in your bath water to fully "clothe" your bod!

Yes, Di, the more I read about the chemicals in skin care, hair care, and body care products, the more I look for non-toxic products. Even the so-called 'natural' and some organic products contain toxic chemicals. I always check the ingredients against the Cosmetics Database at the Environmental Working Group's site. I was so shocked when I saw what some of those strange-sounding ingredients actually were. Now I don't buy anything if it has anything in it I can't pronounce and I will always check an ingredient if I don't know what it is. That goes for everything that goes in or on my body.

Twice I've had women come by and tell me these statements:

1. A pharmacist told me that, although she can pronounce those long-lettered ingredients, it's all "bad stuff."

2. A gal told me that her dermatologist said to never use commercial lotions on her skin.....the professional was the from the Denver area.

Living in Calgary, the prairie air is drier and my skin on heels, hands do dry up faster.

I try to use moisturizers and lotions. Sometimes I just forget.

Just want to share that I recently bought a Nivea lip moisturizer and I love it. Even with this awful cold, it's doing a great job of keeping my lips nice and moist. I've been keeping it in my jean or jacket pocket since I got it and apply it several times a day.

Ya know, Dotsie, you can use the Shea Butter for that, too.

Thanks yonuh. I'm all out of shea right now. I was buying it from Di but got out of the habit. Is that where you get yours?
