Just wondering if anyone saw this?

http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2010/09/28/dont-know-much-about-religion-youre-not-alone-study-finds/

I thought the results were interesting. I found the original 32 questions and took it, just for fun.

yonuh,
I was surprised that people didn't know the 1st four books of
The New Testament. That seems like a no-brainer to me. Some
didn't know where Jesus was born? That also seems impossible.

I took the test, twice, answered all 10 questions correctly both times, but was told I only answered 9/10 correctly (which is why I did it twice). The second time I watched more closely and DID get all 10 right, but still only got credited with 9/10. Which means that the results could be skewed if the poll isn't tabulating correctly.

I didn't do the 10 questions, so I don't know about that. The original poll was 32 questions, and when I took that one, it tabulated correctly.

Jabber, I can't name all first 4 books of Old Testament. Except for Genesis & Job(?). Unless I run over to the Bible.

Now that I revealed this, I hope my ignorance doesn't reflect my humanity or my capacity to distinguish what is moral vs. immoral. (This is interesting though...just how a child learns about morality without religion. There's alot of us like this.)

However as an intellectual test/challenge it would be worthwhile to try on a cross-section of people for all ages and backgrounds.

In the big picture all knowledge can assist

as an example a fishing boat was launched when we were on holiday..it was named "Genesis" I correctly surmised that it was the builders first venture into boatbuilding..."In the begining" being a quote.oftimes used to mean the start..seem to think The Simpsons had an episode using the quote.
we gather information for all sources eg Eastern philosophy lends words...Shakespear and some use text speak...communication is gathered from society..and will evolve
as the quiz asked about Joseph Smith Ramadam and the Jewish sabbath it was not particularly Christian.

Interesting. I only saw the 10 question quiz. It's a quiz about religion, not Christianity, though most of the questions were related to the Christian faith. I'm all for anything like this to help educate all of us about all faiths. Our world is too small to be focused in on one faith only. Yes, practice one faith, but learn about others and we'll find that there are many similarities.

New Testament, orchid, i.e.: Matthew, Mark, Luke & John!

I think that'd be easier than the Old Testament of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers.

And I'm not saying every human should be able to recite chapter
and verse of well-known scripture. I haven't memorized them.
I know what's in the Bible, pretty much; but not the exactness of
'em. And I do need to study all faiths! I'm not that well
educated on ALL FAITHS!
