Hmmm interesting. I wonder if this is fake. The sound effects of him knocking the shoe on the wall didn't really coincide.

Fake or real who the hell would go to all that trouble to open a bottle of wine with a shoe when there are a zillion corkscrews in the world. Dumb! Even my Sassy said "bolderdash!"

Okay, okay, have you never been on a picnic in the middle of nowhere and forgot your corkscrew? But then, where's a wall you can knock your shoe on?

I will be brave, I will be the one to try this concept. We'll check it out tonight and I'll let you know. Wonder if it works on white wine, and if it's okay if the bottle is cold?? Hmmm, science at work.

Who in heavens name came up with that one. I mean, why would you put a bottle of wine in your shoe, in the first place? It's like who was the guy who decided honey was edible? This stuff has
to orginate somewhere, right? Geese.

Dear Reader Edelweiss2,
Dr. Dancing Dolphin just posted that this morning, and although you might drink at 8am in Germany, I do not. I wait until at least 9. Ahem...

Anyway, told hubby about it and he's game, but he has to work tonight and tomorrow night, so this exciting experiment will not happen until the weekend. Hubby drinks white wine, so we can't just uncork it and let it sit you know.

I'll keep you posted. I know why we use a shoe, too. It's so when you hit the bottle on the wall it's padded and doesn't just break the bottle.

Hang in there, Dr. Dancing Dolphin will return with news when it's available. Science moves slowly you know, even though most of you would be lining up to open wine bottles on a moment's notice, wouldn't you?

checking out...
Dr. Dolphin

Dear Dr. Dolphin, Aaah yes, science moves slowly. I will learn to be patient.
If I may humbly suggest, use a wall that you can clean off afterwards. hee hee.
Wringing her hands anxiously,
your reader,
Edelweiss

Dear JawJaw (what kind of name is that??),

Slush? You dare to call science 'slush'?? Or is it just tht you want me to put your wine in a blender with ice? Sounds like margarita time to me!

The wine bottle will be opened this afternoon. It's Friday and hubby doesn't have to work tonight. In fact, we will be attending a community gala in the parking lot of the hardware store this evening. Yes, the hardware store. I am a classy doctor from a classy neighborhood, by golly.

Live music, hot dogs and soda . . . bring your chair!

I will report back soon jawjaw; hold your pants on.

In the best interests of science,
Dr. Dolphin

Dear Dolphin (Dolphin? And you laugh at MOI?)...

The Slush was in reference to that other broad. And don't ever call me a redneck again. Hardware store? Well, I suppose you could always get a bottle opener if the experiment doesn't work.

JJ---that's Miss Jaw Jaw to YOU!

Such a lack of respect! You dare to address me without the Dr. in front of my name?! I paid $69.95 for that diploma on my wall!

Spoke to my assistant this morning about our detailed technical experiment, and as an avid wine drinker, he sees the great need for this type of research.

Reporting back soon...

Anxiously waiting to hear how this works. Are you using the wall at the hardware store?

Just saying... I'd rather buy a corkscrew than have to fill holes in the wall and paint again and again. Not saying I drink again and again, but well, just saying.

Maybe it's better to buy your wine in a BOX, the way many people do. Easy to open and reseal as well.

Dancing, Doc?

If you are unwilling to do the dirty deed, I shall try. I would really hate to do it, though.....or would I?

I betcha champagne would work well with this tactic. Especially if the animals in the house like to clean up an effervescent liquid off of the floor.

Hic..

Doctors, science, slush, hitting the wall with a shoe...? Ya'll
are a trip! I'm no doctor or scientist, but wouldn't banging
the wall with the heel of a shoe, leave a print...? Dr. Dolphin
do you and hubby like champagne? I'm sitting here wondering
how polka dotted your ceilings are? LOL...? Sorry if I got off

Ay yi yi, the pressure!! Yes, Dr. Dolphin is still willing and able to perform this great experiment. However, my exciting social life has delayed this once in a lifetime event.

The party in the parking lot at the hardware store was a blast, and then we went over to the Village Grind with friends and closed it down. (And in Wrightwood, that means 10pm)

I took some video at the hardware store for you to see the way we celebrate here in our tiny town. Country music, soulful blues, and dancing with your girlfriends because the guys don't dance. And does anyone remember the thread about old people dancing and how special it is?

Well I had mentioned a couple in my community that dance at every event. He's 92 and she's 88, and I got some video of them as well. Moving slower, but still moving and still in love. I've got to try to figure out how to upload it and let you all see.

And, I will document my wine/shoe/no corkscrew experiement with video as well. Patience, my dear readers, patience.

Well, you do know, Doc, if you don't succeed, . . . try try again...hee hee..How very generous of Anno, the scientist, to offer her services.

This may be one of those rare cases of: -
patient dead,
but doctors
very
very
happy.

Here's some video to hold you until I do that doggone expirement. I want Dan to help me video tape it, and he's outside planting flowers. Soon...

Here's some action from last night:

This is Margaret Weeks, dancing with someone from the crowd; very short clip. You'll see my hubby at the end:

Chatty,
Sounds like fun. Have a great time! Today is my brother's birthday.

DD,
I love those type events, like the one in front of the hardware
store. That elderly couple was cute!

That looks like such fun and with neighbors that you know makes it evan more fun...When my husband owned the bar in Fox, Lake Illinois we had all kindfs of fun things going on in that samm town of 5700 people. Pig roasts galore, picnic/burger fries, lots of boating activities ans carnivals. Our family was always on the go, and I loved that. I so miss those days...

Sorry I haven't gotten to the wine experiment yet. I was going to do it this afternoon because my son was here and agreed to videotape it for you.

But... a house burned down right behind where my sister-in-law lives. We were over there all afternoon; got there right after it started. She was at work, but we hauled out all her photos and papers, plus neighbors were hosing the roof and around the backyard.

One house was completely destroyed; we thought both dogs had died in the fire, but we just heard they found one of them. He'd been hiding in the back yard; I can't believe he survived the smoke and flames. The smaller dog hasn't been found. One of the owners had burns on his legs, but will be okay.

It was incredible and happened so fast. Something in the garage exploded and the whole house became engulfed so fast. A neighboring house suffered serious damage, but should be able to be rebuilt.

Such a tragic day for that family; they have lost everything. Look around right now at your home, your family, your pets, and thank your lucky stars that you're safe.

Well, I'll buy this excuse.

But Dr.Dolphin, you needn't go around and explode houses to avoid making the bottle opening video. We can wait. Really.

Well...Dr. Dolphin, I've had to change my calendar, it's July now. When will we get to hear your results on this shoe/wine bottle thing?

But thanks for the video clips of the dancing in your neck of the woods -- I live in a small town too, so I can relate.
