huh? I haven't had a period since 1989 when I had the big H....that's not a good gauge for me.

Mr. 1-800-Bubba has been gone since I let him marry our next door neighbor. Let's see, since 1992? or '93? I'd have to look.

JJ ╜¿╜ zzzz....is this day EVER going to end?

JawJaw,

Your deal about running out of hormones and it not bothering you--I laughed so hard, tears formed!

You need to do 'stand-up'comedy--you're that good! And I mean it!

My sister and I were watching the news one night and they reported that a woman was in the hospital, scheduled for a hysterectomy the next morning. When her husband came to visit her, she pulled out a gun she had smuggled in and shot him. My sister and I both just casually looked at each other and said, "Hormones."

South Beach seems much healthier to me than Atkins. I have high cholesterol and it bothered me to eat all that fat! SB Diet allows veggies. But, I cheated and also had fruit. Still lost weight like crazy. I'm maintaining with no difficulty at all. If I gain back a pound, I just cut back. It's really amazing but how I feel is the best part. Jump out of bed in the morning, raring to go!

she shot him huh? you say that like it's a bad thing..teehee...

A guy I work with is doing the SB diet and he says he tried the AT one but liked this one better. Doc says I have high cholestrol too. First time for me ever! That bothers me. Well that plus the 30+ lbs I've gained since I quit smoking last year.

Jump out of bed? ha! I wish! [Eek!]

My doctor put me on Lipitor because he said I wasn't the type to change my lifestyle [Confused]

I would be walking along and my right leg would give out and I would have a really hard time walking on it. Then, I'm watching television and the ad comes on about Lipitor and a serious side affect being muscle weakness!

My doctor said 1000mg of Fish Oil (twice a day) and 500mg of Niacin (twice a day) has proven to work, lowering cholesterol. Exercise is important too...something I don't do but need to.

When you take the Niacin, be sure to also take tylenol. It will keep the "body burn" to a minimum.

What is body burn? I'm still not taking any hormones, and Monday will start my third week. I'm feeling okay, no joke, in spite of my teasing in the post above...I wonder if that kit you can buy that gauges where you are in menopause would be worth the purchase...Has anyone tried it?

Exercise...ahhh now Dianne, that is something I must start! I must! I found out watching it on TV doesn't count. You have to participate. Gonna be close to your neck of the woods today Ms Di...Muffeesboro...

Exercise makes all the differnce in the world. I exert energy, and feel more energized. Go figure! [Razz]

It helps me sleep like a dog too! [Big Grin]

Gosh, wish I could see you. My hubby is coming home for the week end.

Body burn from Niacin feels like little hot pricks on your skin for about 15 minutes. It stimulates your blood vessels (sp?). It also helps to take it with food. It isn't really unpleasant unless you couple it with hot flashes! As long as you know what is causing it, you're okay. Otherwise, it might kind of freak you out. [Eek!]

JJ - did you ever try the soy/black cohosh ?

I asked my pharmacist this morning if I really needed to re-fill my estrotest (estrogen) ( my pomeranian ate the whole bottle 3 weeks ago today ) since my only symptoms were a few very minor night flashes -- not really sweats -- just warm for a few minutes here and there -- she said the estrogen thing was basically for the symtoms of menopause and if I could live with them then maybe it would be for the best as estrogen can mess with your heart

BUT -- I should make sure to take calcium, vit D, and magnesium to combat osteoporosis and other "stuff"

AND -- that its the black cohosh that prevents the night sweats -- not so much the soy --

BUT -- I should get my liver panel blood work done every so often cuz it can mess with the liver

SOOOOOooo -- as long as I can keep off the FBI's most dangerous list -- I'm not going back on estrogen !!

p.s. -- my pom is okay so far [Smile]

Have you noticed that all vitamins and herbs that are supposed to help menopause and cholesterol, can damage your liver if you take too much? Strange.
