Eileen is the founder of lunarradiance.com and a regular advertiser at BWS. Just wanted to share her discount with everyone for World Menopause Day. World Menopause Day is not a new event. It was started way back in 1984, though it is still relatively unheard of. Started by the International Menopause Society and the World Health Organization, World Menopause Day's original purpose was to bring increased awareness to menopause. Menopause changes a woman's quality of life and more importantly puts her at increased risk for osteoporosis, breast cancer, heart disease, and stroke. Let's not forget hot flashes, night sweats, weight gain, depression, sleep problems, itchiness and a host of other symptoms that were once thought to be only "in the head" of the transitional woman. It is important to understand the risk factors associated with these conditions and how these conditions can be treated. This once undiscussed topic has now come into focus and is open for discussion for more and more women with each other, and their physicians as well. Just Google "menopause" and you will find an abundance of websites and information. In honor of World Menopause Day, Lunar Radiance is offering $5.00 off all wicking sleepwear purchases of $20.00 or more. NO PROMO CODE NEEDED!! We are doing our part to help you say "Nightie, night" to night sweats!! www.lunarradiance.com

We have a holiday exclusively for us? Weeeeeeeell...YEHEY!!! When is this? Do we have a pin to wear? I must, must find a pin to wear and celebrate it happily. Afterall, I have a holiday celebrating a stage in my life. Raising a cup of coffee along with Anne and singing "Take my Sweat Awaaay" (to the tune of Take My Breath Away).

I surely did, JJ! I've just declared by own holiday...for the sleep deprived. I'm skiving work today. Insomnia ceases to be funny when one seeks sleep and cannot.

Thanks, JJ and Dotsie. I slept for over an hour this morning and managed a long siesta in the afternoon. I've caught up with much needed sleep. Plain menopause, Dotsie. I've done everything in the manual which helps but...occasionally, it does'nt. And, when it does not, I simply take a day off from work so I can catch up on sleep.

Love your poem, Anne.
The funny thing is, my sisters who live in NYC and the South Pacific think I have a normal pattern of sleep...by their respective time zones. LOL!
I'm just glad I do not work with heavy machinery...or even fly a plane or any of that sort. Can you just imagine the threat I'd pose to the public? I'd be a fine babysitter though. I'd sleep when the child does. And...he better nap!

Lola, I get it. I sleep well 2-3 nights in a row and then miss 2-3 nights. I'm keeping a log, not that it will help, but I'm looking for a (great, I forgot the word).
I'm post-menopause and miss the menopause days. At least I could remember things.

I usually get by on 5 to 6-hour sleep when I am in London, Anne. But, I nap on the weekends when I am home.
I actually thought I have got my sleeping pattern down to pat, Saundra. Until fairly recently...it's similar to yours. I'd have nights which are fine and then, there are nights when I'd have only two hours of sleep. I get so physically sapped when those two-hour sleeptime come in succession. So, I just take home work so I can nap when sleep comes in the daytime. This menopause malarkey is such a bummer. I'm hot flushing/flashing as well. I was over all this business for a few months but, doggone it...iiiiiit's baaaaaack!
That's what I do, Chatty. I get up from bed and read until my eyes tire or, turn the telly on.

You're sleepless in NJ as well, Eileen? Yep. Went through that itchy skin immediately after my TAH/BSO. It was actually the first symptom that manifested surgical menopause. Aveeno lotion and E45 helped.

Lola,
I had a lot of trouble with sleeping with menopause related symptoms. I just mentioned to another "poster" that I now sleep like a baby using new sleepwear and that is it- and I love to tell everyone I can who can't sleep- goodnighties pajamas are the ticket. They are made with an ionization fabric that induces sleep. I thought it was hocus pocus- but it worked for me!
