Hey ya'll,
Larry and I are giving a Halloween party and I'm trying to come up with ideas for a 'couples costumes' that maybe I can make myself for the two of us. Any ideas? I have until the 31st to finish them. I don't want to go to any great expense. Whaja think?

Thanks!!!
Dee

Be a pair of playing cards...you be the Queen of Hearts...and he can choose whatever is the other winning match! Your day to wear a crown in fun way .. laugh Wear placards, a funny type of jester hat for him / you..etc. smile

Or be a pair of salt and pepper shakers.
Pair of oil and vinegar bottles.
Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
Candle and matchstick

Orchid...awesome ideas...how do I go about making these? I'm not good in the imagination department and wonder if there is a web site for instructions for things like this?
Thanks again sweetie!

A looong time ago, my husband and I went as a Monk and a pregnant Nun. That was pretty easy to make and was very comfortable to wear as well.

You be Sonny and he can be Cher, he is the tall one after all. You'd need two cheap wigs, and a dress for him with some makeup.

I could picture you two as the Flintstones! Here is a link to costume ideas, and I think they are easy to copy.

little! Teeheehawahawahee LOL!

Jabber.....LOLOLOLOLOL I'll send you a picture... smile I'll need the plus plus size.

EW...cute idea for the Flintstones.

I'm trying to find a chicken and an egg costume...you know where the top of the egg is cracked and sits on top of the head and with the legs sticking through the bottom of the egg with chicken feet. I think I could make a chicken outfit but not sure about how to make a shape for the egg.

Oh, well...Michelle and I are going out tomorrow to look at halloween costumes and hopefully we'll find some ideas there.

Thanks ya'll...you're the best...and Jabber, I'll keep you in mind when I'm picking out costumes for the hunk... smile

I used to go to 2nd hand stores to look for costumes. You could put on a tutu, then a pillowcase over your face (with eye holes) and call yourself CINDERPILLOW....no?

And Dee, I've met you...you are not PLUS size.

JJ...you're cracking me up...LOL My DIL and I went all over Mobile and we think we've found mine...Larry's going over a magazine for his. I'll save the actual 'who are we' for the pics after Halloween. I axed the halloween haunted house because we just don't have enough time to plan it...so Michelle and I are going to hit the after halloween sales and make a nice one next year...so for now, it's going to be halloween costume party. Whew...I'm tired!!!

There is a costume of a rather heavy old woman who has sat on her dog and when she gets up she doesn't realize it and it's stuck between her dress/butt cheeks. It's really funny...it has a wig and everything. I'm thinking of that one. It's called where's the dog. I can hear my grandchildre now freaking out about me sitting on a dog and it being stuck. Then, again, I'd like to dress up as a witch...long nose, wart, weird makeup...that would be cool but I'd have to give my grandchildrean therapy afterward. Sheehhhh...don't know yet.I'll keep you posted.

This is hysterical. I've seen a card, or maybe it was passed around the internet, of the woman looking for her dog. I had no idea there was such a costume.

We are also going to a party this year. I'm going to have to start thinking about who we can be.

Sounds great Dee. We will be in Disney this year for all the Halloween stuff there. But we are coming home on Halloween so I won't be dressing up. I used to dress up at work. The last couple of years I was my standby, a gypsy fortune teller. I used to put a bowl on my desk next to my "crystal ball" with little fortunes for people to pick. they all got a kick out of it. Two years ago, my daughter (worked with me) put on glasses and a blonde wig and went as me. It was hysterical. People kept trying to guess who she was. They were telling her she looked like someone so familiar, but they couldn't quite tell who.

Oh Louisa that sounds like such for and is very creative. Halloween parties here are a thing of joy, they have a party at the clubhouse and many of the folks come dressed up in really super costumes. This year I will be at my granddaughters with her and her new arrival. (I hope!)

If Larry will be a Pirate, he should wear the big hat and lots of gold jewelry, then you can dress down, almost in rags, wear blacked out teeth, and really managled looking hair and you can go as his faithful gopher, yar me mattie... But remember to be dirty, they always are in the nmovies.

Dee, why couldn't you be a pirate too? You could be pirate twins. He could have a patch on one eye and you could have a patch on the other. You could have a hook on one hand, and he could have a hook on the other. You could have a right woodern leg and he could have the left one.

Anne327,
I guess you're right but most of the folks in the area of the
nursing home I visit, have their wits. They're people with
MS or who've been shot or in car accidents and stuff. Some of
them have had limbs amputated and other's have had strokes.
In the units I'm associated with, the residents are mostly
young and mentally competent. My friend is totally aware. I can
see if someone was in the ozone layer, they might get confused.

Well, IMO the activity director plans some great holidays observances and they temporarily deter a disabled person's
thoughts. And however brief, it's good to think of something
other than one's own grief. I understand where Anne and Chatty
are coming from. But there's always 2 sides 2 every situation.

My grandaughter dressed little 8 day old Emily as a strawberry. She looked so adorable, no trick or treating for her but it was her first Halloween so she had to have a costume too.

Would love to see photos, and hope to share my own. Ross is setting us up with photobucket with photos from his camera so I hope to share pix tomorrow. We were hippies.

chatty, I adore babies in cute little cotton costumes. We had a teeny pumpkin come to our door, in her dad's arms. I'm sure if she didn't have an older sibling, she would have been home.

Dotsie,
I've got real neighbors who are hippies and I love them. They
are such sweet people.

Chatty,
I'll be your grand baby was cute as can be. Never thought of
dressing up an 8 day old! How sweet!

I can't wait to see everyone's Halloween pictures. Chatty...I bet your greatgrandbaby looked adorable in her costume...Dotsie...can't wait to see the hippy photos.
Jabber...the hunk dressed up as Jack Sparrow...he went all the way with a mustache/and chin mustache, earring, wig and bad teeth...I am not sure how to explain my costume so I'll just post a picture of it.
Did everyone have a great Halloween?

Well now I read through the posts and saw no photos at the end... shoot!

My best friend's neices are brand new - the 2 year old girl went as a bumblebee and her 6 mo old sister went as a flower- too cute!

As for me and my guy, we went as 'assault and battery'. He was a salt shaker and I was a battery (specifically the energizer bunny, hehe). Corny, but it was fun and a good project for us to work on together!
