Another friend, another surgery! I have another friend going under the knife soon...ewww...that sounds horrible.

Anyway, am trying to think of something fun to do for her while in the hospital or home recovering. Any thoughts???

Dotsie,
It depends on what kind of surgery? Will your friend be able to get around after the surgery? If not, one thing would be to have your funny cards all lined up and ready to mail. This way, she would receive one card a day while "laid up." Something for her to look forward to.

I love the card idea. Think I'll take you up on that one. She saw the surgeon and is now having more tests done prior to surgery...on and on it goes! [Eek!]

After some kinds of surgery, specifically abdominal or reproductive-area, or face area, laughter can be physically painful. For people experiencing these surgeries, please wait a week or so for stitches etc. to heal before telling them jokes or sending funny cards. Otherwise, though, humor is a great idea.

My husband is having surgery at the end of the month and will be recovering for two months after that!!! I think I will need an arsenal of ideas for an active man who is now sedentary and how to referee between him and our four year old very active son. All ideas welcome no matter how crazy.

Hope someone gives you some good ideas [Smile]

My husband had knee surgery last year, and he is not one for sitting around watching TV or movies (and doesn't read books, either) - drove us all nuts before he was fully up and on his feet again [Roll Eyes]

Good luck!

Lynn,
Is he interested at all in computers? A laptop would be ideal, if he is. This is assuming he will be able to use his arms/hands? A tape recorder works great for someone who needs to amuse themselves. He could start a life journal by recording what he would want his 4-year old son to hear, later in life. He could also learn a foreign language by listening to CD's. Music is another option and a valuable one. It soothes the savage beast and my guess is, after about a week or so of being bedridden, you are gonna want to kill him or vice versa...hehe...A jigsaw puzzle is great entertainment and if you buy "theme" puzzles, like Marilyn Monroe (for the beast in him) or Mickey Mouse (to decorate your sons room with later, after he works it and glues it together) or ELVIS! He's still alive you know...anyhoo...just some suggestions.
