tomtom, applaud, lifeboat, cherry
The rhythms of a tomtom,
We heard on the distance shore,
As in a lifeboat we drifted,
Down the river, as it did roar.
I craved a cherry ice cone,
When others began to applaud,
The boy on the shore, entertaining a crowd,
With the antics of him and his dog.

The secret of life and it’s twisted paths,
You find in nature,
It’s peace and wraths.
Just like the scenery outside of your home,
Life has hills and dales for you to roam.
Winds may be strong, and whip all around you,
Or a sweet gentle breeze, can be gentle and fondle.
Ride out the waves and enjoy the rainbows,
Harvest the seeds that God has bestowed.
And in the end, like a leaf off a tree,
We return to mother earth; - the cycle is the key.

perplexed, advice, gone, accept
My own life is so speckled with strife,
I find it hard to offer advice.
Each and everyday I find myself vexed,
do I go hither or yawn, I am quite perplexed.
Miseries I have decided to except,
While only happy thoughts I will accept.
Under the billowing clouds I lay out on the lawn,
My twisted feelings are now all but gone.
If I can decide not to be sad,
then allow me my friends to simply be glad.

I place the bookmark to where I've read,
And pick up the calculator and add, instead.
Like so many around me, I'm figuring how much,
Taxes to pay, by the end of the month.
April 15th, it hangs over my head,
As if a forecast of bad weather,
that's coming and I dread!

WORDS: peppermint, cauliflower, jalopy, diapers You know what’s REALLY sloppy? Looking inside an old jalopy, And seeing diapers on the floor, Between peppermint sticks and apple cores. But that’s not even the worst. The back seat is about to burst, From smelly cauliflower, Getting moldy by the hour. Not even a car wash can save this mess. It has to be turned inside out, what a distress! Best place is the old junk yard. Where rats can enjoy the grubby discard. Here is a photo for the next poem

I recall the days, your hand held mine,
We laughed and joked and life was fine.
Then the hands of time, whipped you unmercifully,
Right before my eyes, yet I didn't see.
The struggle you had as it drained your strength,
I thought you were safe, though you were losing the race.
Now your hand is aged, and not as warm as it was,
And my hand hold yours, as if it were a glove.
No matter what this life has left in store,
We'll walk hand 'n hand through that unknown door!
NOTE: This poem is dedicated to my dear, aged friend; four decades she has been my mentor. It's my anniversary; I quit
smoking 25 years ago today. And I did so at her encouragement!
