Cookie, that IS one stop shopping - no big need for a gym trip.

Gee, Cookie...now you know when I lived a different city..I would start off real early in the morning on the bike,...ie. 6:30 pm before 100% humidity and high temperatures hit with smog..get my cycling done.

Then go happily grocery shopping at 8:30 am at a big super grocery store..when hardly anyone was around yet to shop.

Gims, since we only need to usually grocery shop for 2 adults, it is more manageable volume-wise. Since we do alot of it by bike, grocery shopping is all interwoven as a stop just before we get home...after work or after a nice long fitness/recreational ride elsewhere in the city.

It's yes, the long checkout lineups on weekends.. We do shop at the market every weekend and do know specific vendors..so grocery shopping isn't entirely a drag for us.

I'm lucky to have so many choices. Walmart -- yuk. Won't go there, period.

I found some great deals at the 99-cent store. Foods -- organic soups and cereals, chai tea, all $3-4 somewhere else. I stock up because they're often one-time deals. An assortment of cleaning products, including name brands. Reading glasses. All sorts of stuff, really, if you're aware of quality.

I think we spend about 500 dollars for two people, but we are not bargin hunters. My husband will shop on base for the items that are used all of the time because the base is very inexpensive. For other things, esp. produce which I eat a lot of, we use a grocery store.
Groceries are getting pretty high, I noticed.
