Wine Festival report - 04/28/10 02:50 AM

This past weekend we were one of 60 artisans in attendance. Met many new customers and were well received. This is our third time.. Approx 10,000 attended!

After hearing that many artisans barely made "booth fee", we feel blessed that our sales were more than we expected. We worked very diligently at being kind to everyone who walked by and did not "sit" reading a book.

Our new wood display boxes, handcrafted by my darling husband, were a hit. They donned sign bearing the names "Ugly Bars" and "Pretty Bars". Talk about attention-getting marketing! The "ugly" ones are our basic bars and the "prettys" of course are our many unique and decorative soaps.

Top five this weekend were:

Ugly

Coconut
Dirt
Lavender
Gardenia
Vanilla Berry

Pretty

Save Our Soap - Soap Savers
Loofah Soap Rolls (Watermelon and Plumeria)
NM-State Shaped Soap (Lemon)
Chile Peppers (Cinnamon and Lime)
"At-The-Cross" (Frankincense and Myrrh)

And of course, our excellent Shea Butter. It was a HIT with many! (Lotions just are not "sufficient" for this part of the country.)

Stay tuned for more updates!

WOW! Di it sounds like you knocked 'em dead. Good for the two of you. That marketing idea of 'ugly' and 'pretty' was genius... I know I'd have been curious enough to stop and have a look see.

Glad to hear you had a successful time. Please tell me about the dirt soap. Might have to buy one as a gag gift.

Di, good for ya'll! When I lived in CO, I used a lot of shea butter.

I like farmers markets and plan to visit them more often - its good to support our home grown farmers and always get a good weather and financial report from the farmers!

"Dirt Soap", Dotsie...smells like fresh potting soil...or when you are out in the garden. It's divine and very popular. The "earthy" types love it! It's so clean-smelling to me..absolutely love it!

Funny thing...one time a young boy, whose mother purchased one for him, said "Mom, I can come out of the bathroom smelling like when I went in!". Too cute!

Okay, please email me. I'd like to order one bar. It's for a family friend whom we refer to as the Dirty Family. Big joke that goes back years, but this will be a great laugh.

Di, love the dirt soap marketing! How would a bar like this be like for your European customers?
