I don't know about you, but my attention to decorating goes outside this time of year. I'd much rather garden than paint or redecorate in the spring.

Me too! I just bought a table for my patio. I already had black bistro chairs and decided the practical thing to do would be just get a table and use the chairs I already have. The table is a white scrolly (is that a word?) iron and I think it will look good together. I don't like things to be real matchy anyway. Now I'm obsessed with finding a reasonalbly priced umbrella that I like. I've also been putting down mulch and planting a few flowers.

I'm taking a week off in May to finish. I want to get it all done before it gets too hot. Maybe I'll get to enjoy this summer instead of working all the time.

Daisy I hope you do get to enjoy the summer and about that word scrolly, NOT! But it does sort of fit with matchy....you are a hoot! [Big Grin]

Daisy, I can see you sitting in the bistro chair with your feet up enjoying your new patio charm. Sounds neat.

We had all our mulching done today. Everything looks nice and neat. Our home is at the end of a block and we have no privacy. Today we had a hedge of cherry laurel planted along the edge of our driveway so we no longer feel as though we are on display when the neighbors walk by. We're looking forward to enjoying the privacy.

What are you yards like?

My yard is getting there. We have one more planting area to finish building and planting and we put down grass seed on half of the front lawn this weekend so once that kicks off things will be looking alot greener around here.
We're waiting for some water pipe work to be completed before we seed the other side.
I got my tomato and pepper plants and some other vegetable seeds in this weekend too!
Daisy, your Bistro set sounds lovely! You are going to enjoy that all summer.
Dotsie, is that a flowering hedge? It sounds nice.

My yard is what is known out here in the West as 'desert motiff' which means no grass just gravel and of course palm trees and I do have 3 gorgeous oleander bushes that were 15 feet high and are now cut down to only about 4 feet. They are thick with green leaves and soon will have hundreds of red, pink and white blossoms. I have gone for the less is better look this year...Oh and my bird baths and feeders are all filled and in place.

My table was delivered today and I love it! It looks great with the black chairs. I'm having my son and family over for dinner on Sunday and hopefully, we'll be able to eat outdoors.

I may just put it in my kitchen in the fall. My kitchen is red, black and white with stainless steel appliances. The white table would give it an extra punch. I'm always designing.........I missed my calling, I think.

I wish I could have all you ladies over for an afternoon tea. We could wear hats and have a so very civilized afternoon tasting exotic desserts, drinking tea or your favorite wine.

Every year when it's cold and everything outside is dead I forget how much I love my yard. We have over a hundred trees and they are all greening up. We have shade grass and it is wonderfully green. I'm planting flowers and the bulbs are blooming and I love my yard.

And everyone's yard sounds so great. I just love spring.

THis morning I was actually awaken by the singing of a couple dozen birds enjoying the bird bath and the bird feeders. Thats when I know summer is here when my wonderful little feathered friends return....what a delightful sound to wake up to.

chatty, we have lots of morning doves near our home. Waking up to them is so peaceful. Hearing them is a great way to start the day.

Planted butterfly bushes today along with four planters for the front porch. Next will be the planters on the back porch and the veg/herb garden. I've got tomatoes, peppers, basil (three types) and other herbs. Still need to get more veggies and plant sunflowers but it's getting there.

Planters at the driveway are full and looking good. I'd like to get some hanging baskets for the barn but they need watering twice a day...too much time!

I found a metal candlelabra and hung that on the front porch along with some votive candle jars that hang along the porch...very festive.

In the warmer months, we eat on either one of the porches and it's lovely. Usually in the mornings, it's on the back porch and afternoons, the front porch.

I know it's summer because the birds won't eat at the feeder..they would much rather eat God's provision now.

Thistle, I love watching the butterflies on the butterfly bushes. We have 2 bushes and they fly back and forth between them. The butterflies in NC are so much bigger than they were in NY.

Thistle, your life sounds so lovely. Is there a definite change in pace since the corporate world, or are you equally as busy with the care of the animals and property?

My herbs are in a single planter outside the back door. I have four: basil, parsley, coriander, and oregano. What do any of you recommend?

LAst night while sitting on the patio, Imentioned that I might run to buy some flowers. Ross said, "I thought we did that last weekend."
I said, "well, we still need to do the pation pots." I went to Home Depot this time and got some new guinea impatience (is that how you spell that?).

Hi,
Someone asked about red Coleus and photosynthesis or chlorophyll. I wasn't sure the question was answered so will try here.
I asked my husband while out walking. He was a junior high Science teacher. He told me the red Coleus was probably a red pigment but on the inside of the plant its still green so it will still act like a green plant. This is the shortened version of his explanation.
Thanks,
Maggie

Hi JJ,
Its nice to pop in once in a while. Yes, I am still at the Craft Shop but am sharing a space with another lady so I only work 1 day a month.
Its great to see you here too and read all about your accomplishments. Congratulations.
Things are keeping me busy so I don't get here often but pop in and catch up every once in a while.
Its wonderful to see how this site has grown and is growing.
Hugs to you,
Maggie
