What's hot? - 12/02/06 01:47 PM
I have a middle school girl on my list. Anyone know a fun craft item I can buy her? I was thinking of getting her a book on jewelry making with a few beads. Any other hot crafts the kids are doing these days?

My daughter has nieces who do scrapbooking. Other than that, I have no clue what kids that age are into. I got my nieces journals and nice pens, but they are in college. I thought I'd get them writing.

Beads and that rope stuff is awsome in the kids eyes!
My son even likes that> He likes the hemp rope used to do the beads with. They call them friendship bracelets and they have an ENORMOUS supply at Hobby Lobby. I cannot go in there very often as they just have so much stuff!
Scrapbooking too.
Card making and those color in posters are great or a sketch pad with pencils erasers and or paints etc.
They love all that stuff and don't forget a journal!

Good suggestion for a journal, Nancy! The best age to start them off.

Don't forget jigsaw puzzles. You can get the 3-D ones if you want to give this child some challenges. I personally don't like those, but they might.

Jewelry-making is very hot. It can get expensive, but Michael's has some inexpensive starter equipment and beads.
Girls are also doing a lot of knitting and crocheting with fancy yarns.
My youngest daughter is into the hemp & bead bracelets.
