Eclipse - 03/30/06 08:48 AM

Did any of you see the eclipse this morning? It was going to be transmitted live on the web! I missed it but here's a link to great pictures:

Songbird,
Tell us more about what the Bible says. That's interesting. Of course I guess there have been eclipses forever.

Re: Eclipse - 04/01/06 08:55 AM

Matthew 24-This chapter talks about the signs of his coming and verse 29 mentions an eclipse as one of the signs. I know eclipses have occured before, still it's a sign according to the Word of God.

[Cool] Here are some other Bible references that mention an eclipse:
Ezequiel 32:7
Joel 2:10
Isaiah 13:10
Amos 8:9
Jeremiah 15:9

Hope this helps!

I didn't hear of it until after the fact. Quite amazing! I read somewhere that in Africa several of the remote tribes told their pregnant women to stay indoors. What's that all about? They believe an eclipse is something evil or a bad omen and will taint the unborn! Imagine that!

I read a book once on primative superstitions and was flabbergasted at some of the things even supposed intelligent people believe....I find however the simpler peoples beliefs rather charming and innocent.

Songbird,
Thank you for those Scripture references. I believe the references to the eclipses in the Old Testament are prophesies of the crucifixion of Jesus.
The day of His crucifixion, it was dark from noon until three in the afternoon Matthew 27:45. Amd certainly much of those chapters describe the world before the Crucifixion--and now for that matter.
I suppose there will be eclipses at the end of time. But then, I suppose there have been eclipses since the beginning of time also.
