Wisdom

Wisdom - 12/11/04 05:46 PM

This isn't so much a fav Bible verse, as a prayer from my Advent readings that resonated with me yesterday. How often have we wished for true wisdom ?

Prayer: Come, O Spirit of Wisdom. Come into our minds and hearts that we may know what is truly pleasing to you. Breathe on us your knowledge and understanding so that we may respond appropriately to the joys and sorrows of life. May we dance at our wedding feasts; may we weep at the loss of dear friends. May Jesus, your Wisdom, guide us to the kingdom of peace. To do your will is true wisdom; to follow your law is supreme grace. Come, O Spirit of Wisdom, come!

Evie, there was a time when Iprayed for patience. That's when the kids were younger. Now I really need wisdom and that's one of my regular prayers.

The way I pray it is to ask God to align my will with His. He's the king of wisdom and if we can only align our wills we'll be so much more like Him.

What a lovely prayer. Thanks for sharing.

This is Awesome! God has showed us what to do by example through His written Word.

This reminds me of what Solomon prayed for. Solomon could have asked for anything, however, he chose to ask for Wisdom.

God Bless all of you,
Cathi

I have prayed for wisdom and my prayers were answered.
If you pray for patience, you get to a lot of waiting because waiting teaches you patience.
If you pray for wisdom you make a lot of mistakes because making mistakes teaches you wisdom. I should be as wise as Solomon with all the mistakes I have made. Now I just pray to have the gumption to put the wisdom I already have into action. I'm not sure I can afford too many more mistakes.
