prayer increases love

prayer increases love - 08/23/09 11:17 PM

This is taken from my daily devotional calendar:

Prayer increases the volume of love in the world.
Sir William Temple.

This made me think that BWS women are doing our share to increase love. Just a neat thought I wanted to share.

Dotsie, one thing I know for sure is that when I pray it increases the volume of love in me...I've gotten to the point now where I can't stop praying because I can feel the power of the positivity in myself and in the lives of people being prayed for....I have felt that power empowering myself when others have prayed for me...your prayers, the prayers of so many of you throughout these difficult few years of constant grief, have literally lifted me out of dark places and brought me back to life & light time and time again.

Now I need to pay that forward. I figure that everyone who crosses my path during the day (both in person and cyberspace) is meant to be there, so I pray for them, pray for situations in the newspapers and on the news...it does make a difference. I truly believe that praying for others ripples more light and love into the world and helps diminish the power of darkness around us.

Amen sistah! I totally agree.

One day last week while doing my devotional, I read your email about communicating with God and how you go about it. I'm striving for more of that in my life. I was reminded of you again this morning when I saw the same paper in my devotional basket. Sending love and prayers your way.

Thanks Dotsie.

Here's what He's drilling into my head these days: It's always and only all about the love. Nothing else matters. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS except loving others and allowing myself to be loved by others. It's always and only about love.

Another moment yesterday, quite powerful and intense sense of presence. The message? He used a dingy grey pigeon eating the bird seed off the ground in our backyard. I was ready to shoo it away when I clearly heard: "God is present even here". I knew what He meant and was ashamed that I could deny the pigeon his share of the food based solely on its dinginess...powerful, powerful message of unconditional love there.

Something I'm learning over and over again, that God comes wrapped in ways and faces (and places) that we might never notice unless we open our eyes to the possibility that He is present everywhere. I've learned that God often has dirt underneath His fingernails.

Perhaps that's what's meant by the "pray without ceasing" scripture.

eagle
and often has dandruff too eagle, i was working with healers and joining them i saw a man come towards us for his session about 50+ with a black jacket a comb over and dandruff but i'd never seen anyone more butifull in those ten minets that was focused on him than he was, thats something iv missed since being away from that setting. Just getting to see how butifull people actulie are, regardless of knowing them or not or however they looked

Celtic, and dandruff too. I think that when we glimpse His sense of humour, everything becomes possible...He comes in all guises. I used to work in a soup kitchen for homeless men. They were scruffy, weathered, worn, grimy, smelly and often drunk. But one day I sat on the stone bench with one of the smelliest of them all. We chatted, and boy, were my eyes open. He turned out to be one of the most delightful people I'd ever met. And when he talked about God, he radiated light and joy. Underneath all the grime and stench lived a faithful child of God. We can never judge a book by its cover, and never underestimate the possibility of the presence of God wherever and in whomever we meet.

very very true eagle. Its not always so but sometimes the most sensitive of people are the most vulnerable to coping in this world.

If you can't cope in this world sometime you end up on the bottom of the ladder. Or using alcohol or some other drug (i not saying all alcoholics or addicts are like this but some are)is used to block out the sensitivities and the cruelty of or in the world that the individual feels from the world about them.

So yea it makes perfect sense that you'd find people with a big god presence in the strangest of places and at the strangest of times, eagle. Same thing as your pigeon eh

One of the deepest conversations about belief in God that I've ever heard was when I was eavesdropping on what appeared to be two homeless men at Panera. They were discussing whether they thought God cared if they belonged to a church. I can't recall all of it, but I just remember thinking, they know their Bible better than I do - for sure!
