Z-Coil shoes anyone?

Z-Coil shoes anyone? - 11/08/07 11:15 PM

Well, I just purchased my first pair today. After seeing a man wearing them last weekend, DH TOLD me I needed them.

After my rollover accident in '95, I have slowly "aged" with neck and back and arm and hip ailments. So, these Z Coils are supposed to be the be-all, end-all of (nearly) perfect shoes for even arthritis.

I'll keep everyone posted about how they do.

Check out the link I posted. It explains it all. They have coils as the heels...like car shocks.

I'm amazed, Di!
What is the price point and do you have to purchase them from a chiropractor?

Mine were $190..and no chiropractor. Just walk in. I'm sure there are several places in Tucson. I'm sold!

I want to get Summer ones next year...but since these are for work, they are tax write-offs!

Go check 'em out yourself. My salesperson took 2 hours with me to be SURE they fit.

Does anyone know if these are the same kind of shoes that Dianne posted about quite sometime ago, she really liked the benefits...

Re: Z-Coil shoes anyone? - 11/09/07 09:33 PM

They seem like a great solution for various painful conditions but don't you think they look a little strange? Couldn't they have hidden the spring inside a wedge-style heel or something? I have hip and lower back problems but I'd feel dorky wearing these...sorry, just my opinion!

Re: Z-Coil shoes anyone? - 11/09/07 09:44 PM

Interestingly...the sales person said that when someone comes into her store and has issues with the "look", she tells them to "come back when you are in REAL pain".

But they do have coils enclosed, in the boot styles I think...

The style I got was the Taos Clog in black...and I don't care what they look like...as long as it helps my be pain free!!

Di, I thought you'd say that...yes, I know what it's like to be in pain...but maybe I'm just too vain! I like the boot ones though, I love chunky boots so I would wear those ones! Hope they turn out to be of great benefit to you.

Re: Z-Coil shoes anyone? - 11/10/07 01:03 AM

There is a tennis shoe that works for muscles, I hear it's great.
Here's the link:

People say they are addicting and they work the muscles, many of them.

They are called MBT's if the link does not work!

Oh my, I'm glad you said that, Di! They would play havoc with my dance technique so I can't use them!

They also say to not use them around any cables or climb ladders...they can catch.

But I mainly use them in the soap shop since I am on my feet ALL day on cement..which is the worse thing for you.

Re: Z-Coil shoes anyone? - 08/01/08 03:23 AM

Here's an update.

I cannot BELIEVE how wonderful these shoes continue to be. If I do not wear them while in the soap shop, my hip, knees and legs hurt AND I cannot sleep.

They are so amazing!! I need a summer style now, but they are a bit costly so I'll wait until, maybe, they have a sale.

These shoes are SO worth it since I stand on concrete all day.

I always wear Nike's. But I saw some folks wearing the Z-coils
while we were in Pigeon Forge last spring. Guess I'll try a pair of them. Your recommendation is quite outstanding! I once had a lots of pain in my feet and legs but I got several months of acupuncture on the bottom of my feet: much grit is needed to undergo that procedure, however. I'm gonna try the style shoe
you talked about, the next time I need footwear. Thanks, Di.

I know these aren't tennis shoes, but I wear Birkenstocks and I tell ya, when I don't have them on, my feet, legs, and back hurt. If I wear them, ahhhh...all is right with the world. They ain't purdy, but I love them!

Re: Z-Coil shoes anyone? - 08/10/08 03:06 PM

jj,
I'll have to research Birkenstock; never heard of them before.
Thanks...

Re: Z-Coil shoes anyone? - 08/10/08 11:21 PM

I used to wear "Birks". The only thing is...they wear down (the cork on the souls) and my feet just go back to hurting.

With the "Z's", once the spring heal wears out (they say you'll KNOW by your gait), you just purchase replacement coils..about 40 bucks a pair....much cheaper than the original shoes. And, they say, the shoes really don't wear out! I definitely can see that. They are wonderful!!

Re: Z-Coil shoes anyone? - 08/10/08 11:36 PM

Give me COMFORT anyday. I don't care if my shoes are made by Gucci, or Farmer Brown Ltd. So long as they are comfortable. Shot, most of the time my shoes are the ones God gave me, I run around the house barefoot. I love being al-natural...I guess I'm an Island kinda gal.

Ohhhh...my Birks were bought in...1993...Hmmmm...guess they've changed huh?? grin

Re: Z-Coil shoes anyone? - 08/19/08 01:01 PM

I wear Naturalizers and Nike; and my feet no longer hurt since
the acupuncture. I do a lot of walking. As I said, while on vacation I saw someone wearing Z-coils but didn't know what
they were. The first time you see them, they look kind of weird.
On the other hand, they do look comfy.

Di,
So you're transplanted from NJ to NM. That must've been quite
a change!

Re: Z-Coil shoes anyone? - 08/19/08 01:07 PM

Yeah, those Z-Coils did look weird...But I just needed something that worked! And now all the exercising I'm doing is helping a HUGE amount. My hip no longer hurts.

Yeah, check out my "Running away" post in the "Remember?" section!
