Gastritis?

Gastritis? - 03/15/10 01:27 PM

Anybody ever been diagnosed with gastritis? I've been thru a lot of tests to find the cause of my problems in the last couple of months and doc finally did a EGD (endoscopy) last week and gastritis was the diagnosis. I'm now on meds and am doing better but wondering if anyone else has dealt with this. I get the impression this is what you have when you are one step before an ulcer.

And yes, of course, I checked it out online! I'm hoping for a more personal perspective, I guess.

I believe I was diagnosed with that at one time, but it related to my intestines and was very painful, as I recall. Meds did the trick. It was so long ago that it's only a faint memory now. And I've never had it again.

Sorry...

doc said the lower third of my stomach is inflamed. I'm on meds and they are helping. I go back to the doc on Thurs. He also took 2 biopsies (one from stomach and one from esophogus I believe) and I will get the results of those on Thurs. All I've done is go to doctors for months, it feels like. If all goes well after Thurs I should be done with medical appt's for a while!!

My first husband went to the hospital one time and was
diagnosed with gastritis. It looked very painful, the way he
was carrying on!

Ann, I refer you to a book that was an real eye-opener for me. "Ultra-Prevention = The 6-Week Plan That Will Make You Healthy for Life by Mark Hyman, MD and Mark Liponis, M.D.

The whole theory is that inflammation in the body is the root cause of a host of illness. Arthritis, heart disease, brain dysfunction such as Alzheimer's and on and on. They have a lengthy section regarding the gastrointestinal system. You might find it helpful.
