Liquor Prices... - 11/22/10 12:05 AM

I saw an article last week that stated that the liquor stores have been doing a bang up business of late. They are saying it's because more and more of us are drinking wine and beer. It seem unemployment, boredom and frustration are the reasons given when quized. More DUI's are being handed out as well. So SAD!

The idea of more and more people drinking alcohol is not a good
concept. Booze only adds to one's problems. Let's hope they're not over imbibing.

One of our towns richest men owns 15 liquor stores in town and lives like royalty from the sales of his liquor.

I think if I got rich in that manner, I'd be eaten up with guilt.

On the other hand, you're in a great town for that sort of thing; I was trying to guesstimate the amount of money flowing
through Vegas every year.

The thing is, I don't think people are drinking alcohol as much
as they did years ago, because the law has cracked down on drunk
driving. If you have a car accident these days with any amount
of booze in your system, there goes everything you've worked a
lifetime to obtain. Folks' I know, stay home.

The new Years Eve celebration here in the streets of Vegas was reported to be 400,000 people and yet there were only a dozen arrests this year for public intoxication. That is a miracle for here.

Of course there are more drinkers. The population has exploded.

And too, with all the craziness going on out there in the world,
who can wonder at it: people drink just to remain sane, no doubt.

Also if you'll notice, liquor prices aren't going up like the food prices are. I wonder why? Maybe it'd be cheaper to drink our dinner, nah!!!

Re: Liquor Prices... - 03/26/11 10:50 PM

Just read an article that liquor is being consumed by more people now then ever before. They have attributred some of the increase to the situation our world is in today, fear and depression. And then of course the college kids are really drinking up a storm, even the girls it seems. Makes me sad I sold the Cocktail Lounge after my husband passed away. I might be quite well off otherwise...

I hear what you're saying. My nephew and wife just bought a share in an area nightclub. Between the major earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear diasters, it isn't any wonder people are trying to drown their sorrow. The problem is booze makes matters worse, adding heartache atop of heartache.

greene,
What a cool saying! And this the first time I've heard it.
A person gets mature and thinks they've heard it all. Everyday
I'm discovering something new. I like that quote, greene.
Prayers and blessings!!!

Thank you, Jabber. It's one I had to learn the hard way. And one we should all take to heart.

It always surprises me how much alcohol is sold in this country and they keep making more and more concochuns everydsy. I hate the taste of alcohol, always have. I don't mind one maybe two swigs of ice cold beer on a very hot day, say at a ball game or picnic BUT thats it!!!
