My Jesus Painting

My Jesus Painting - 12/05/05 10:43 AM

I'd like your opinion of my painting of Jesus. It's called The Likeness. I realize it's not the image of him that we all grew up with. But to copy someone else's work would be legally and morally the wrong thing to do. So I created my own. Initially, I tried to make him look more Jewish, less European. I tried to make the hair darker, but it kept turning out lighter anyway. What do you think?

To view the painting go to the website my dear husband created at:

Vi the link didn't work for me for some reason...but I went ahead and clicked on your website link in your signature block and found the painting...I love the expression on His face and the light in his eyes! Your work is just wonderful - so many beautiful paintings that obviously you have poured your heart and soul (and talent!) into. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

Vi I think it is beautiful and has captured the softness of his features and the gentleness in those expressive eyes. I'd hang it on my wall...

Thanks so much, Chatty Lady. I knew the eyes had to be special. I worked and worked to make them express his inner beauty. It makes me feel good that I accomplished what I set out to accomplish.

Vi,

Your paintings are absolutely beautiful. You are really talented. They moved me in many ways, felt different feelings with each one.

Congratulations!

Sandpiper,

Thank you so much. Your words make me feel good.

I started painting in 2001...during a horrible period of not sleeping - a menopausal thing. I found Jerry Yarnell's painting lessons on PBS. He taught me to paint. I'm so grateful to him.

Love to you,
Vi
