Today I received a really fantastic catalog about quilting. It has literally everything the serious quilter could want and then some. Unfortunately for me, I don't quilt. I hate for something this nicely done to go to waste. The "first" person who PM's me that would like to have it, I will put it in the mail to you immediately. No charge of course. If you're a quilter or know one, please take this off my hands.

I am already on their mailing list and have been for years, but I wanted to say that they are a wonderful company. They ship super fast and I have always been very happy with anything I've ordered.

Chatty,
My age made me forget where you'd posted this so I thanked you in another forum...anywhooo...I'm going to thank you again cuz you deserve it. Thank you and it's really a great catalog. Whoa...lots of idea, patterns, material, and it's making me want to get started quilting. Renee, on another forum is going to send a photo of a quilt that's in her family. I've got to do this in my lifetime...it's the only thing I haven't done that I really would like to do. Okay, once I finish wallpapering the two bedrooms, finish my son's memory book/scrapbook of his life and make my younger son a video tribute to him, I think I might be able to squeeze in the start of quilting. I was fortunate...my mamaw taught me to do the girly things from a very young age. I would sit on her lap while she guided my hands and together we would make little handkerchiefs on her foot-pedal singer sewing machine. She taught me to crochet and embroider and by the time I was 18 I was sewing well enough to make my wedding dress, veil and train...it was beautiful with all the seed pearls and lace. I made my children a lot of clothes as well as myself and sewed up until about 1989 when I got sick of it...took a break and started up again a couple of years ago...it's like riding a bike...as long as I have a good machine I can figure out most anything. But, I have to tell you, with the cost of fabric these days it's cheaper to just go out and buy stuff...but, then the boys can't say mama made it, either. Does anyone else here sew?

Dee,
We have a lot in common . I made all my daughter's dresses when she was growning up and made her robes and holloween costumes , but put the sewing machine up the attic now . When my daughter got a little older in her teens she wanted the bought clothes off the rack . Now, wallpaper I don't do , but paint a wall I can do , but wallpaper there is a art to that .

Memory book : My girlfriend in Richmond VA lost her son serveral years ago of a heart condition he was 21 yrs old and I told her to make a memory book of him to help her heal and for family and frieds to view . I think they are wonderful ideas to keep a loved one alive in our hearts .

Will get to that quilt soon Dee and take a picture . Nice sharing Dee

Renee...it's wonderful sharing these memories with you and Chatty. It takes a steady hand and a desire to paint walls, too. I'm sorry to hear about your friend who lost her son. I cannot imagine the pain that entails when losing a child. I hope she followed through with her memory book. I would imagine it's good therapy if she can work through the tears and pain.

Can't wait to see the quilt picture. Nice sharing with you, too, dear.

Renee, maybe it's time to pull the sewing machine out of the attic and make a quilt. Mom made me a jean quilt. It's on my couch. I won't part with it but will pass it down to future generations.

Cick,
You are too much gal , I don't think so after all these years , I thought my daughter would take up the sewing , no way . Wow, that Jean quilt really sound wonderful ,and how creative you mom was . Cick, I don't have the time anymore and those days are gone have other things to do now , but nice suggestion though .Gone are the days of making cloths. I do floral arrangments now and fruit baskets now have busy life .
