These suggestions were made for canned vegetarian chili from Trader Joe's. You can probably do it for meat chili too.

1. saute one sliced onion, 4 chopped garlic cloves, 8 mushrooms, 1 green pepper, tsp. fennel seeds, 1/4 lb. cubed tofu and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. Add the nuts and seeds last. Stir in chili. Serves 2 hungry adults.

2. take the above, and use it as a pasta sauce. Freeze the leftovers unless you're eating it all within the week.

3. add 1 rib sliced celery, 1/2 cup spinach and 1 cut-up tomato to #1. Add to 2 cups of boiling water and you have soup. Most other vegetables work well in here too. Also a cooked diced potato.
