We have one child, Elizabeth, she's 22 and has really done herself proud. She is on teaching experience for 6 weeks at an elite intermediate (prob grade 7 and 8 equivalent). She has a very nice associate teacher at this school who Elizabeth gets on well with and has has also given her lots of help. Then the other day the visiting lecturer (from University or Teacher College, I'm not sure which) came to assess Elizabeth and she had total control of the class doing PE, on her report she mostly got a tick in the STRONG box and the other ticks were in the 'Good but need a little work' area, and one of them was little use of Maori and calling them all GUYS (does it bother you being called You Guys all come here???) maybe she should use children, girls and boys!!!?? Soooo the next day her associate teacher (who just happens to be friends with the visting lecturer!!) told Elizabeth that her lecturer says; "she is a natural"! Annnnnnd, Elizabeth's drama teacher at Uni (Equvialent to College) has given her such glowing marks and guaranteed her a good job Teaching drama once she graduates!! And here's me saying way back 3 years ago....she'll never last 4 years! Still got another year to go, but she'll breeze through it and by this time next year she'll be nearly finished and comes out with a double degree.

Congrats Flossie! You have every reason to be proud of this young lady! I loved reading about this and could just see her with the kiddies in PE. Boy, if she had control of them in that class, then she is good. I know it does your heart good to hear about all of it. And this time next year, she'll be done! Good for her!

flossie, I really enjoy reading about people's children. It's another way for us to connect. Congrats. You must be tickled for her. Is she going to school in your town? Does she line on campus? Do you think she will end up teaching at a school near you? I'm heading to pick up my daughter who just began college a couple weeks ago. Can't wait.

Thanks for your comments everyone. I guess I only have one to brag about.

Dotsie....sorry I'm not too sure what you mean by 'line on campus'? Elizabeth is at University in Wellington which is about and hour and a half away from were we live. She comes home often, I go visit her for shopping trips (Wellington is NZs capital city) and we also stay in touch via phone, email and txt!

Flossie,

It is so amazing watching our babies grow up to become capable, responsible adults. My girls are 25 and 27 and out of school. I am in awe when they talk about their careers that these little girls who used to play dolls are now bossing people around in the real world. I know you are proud. Congratulations!!!!!!!!

Hey I think it's wonderful to gloat. I'm really happy for you. I found that most people tend to play down things they are proud of...this is a great forum to shout out and say...look why I'm beaming!
What a smart daughter you have. Good going, Mom.

Sorry, I meant live on campus. I can tell from your response that she must. My daughter's college isn't far from home either, so I get to see more of her than the guys. One son is in South Carolina and the other will be in Florida in a couple weeks.

No Dotsie, she doesn't live on Campus.....she has her own apartment!!! Long story but it comes from her father also being an only child, Elizabeth inherited half the farm along with her father. We paid her out by buying her the apartment in the HEART of Wellington city! (The farm will eventually be all hers one day anyway!) She's a very lucky girl, but I'm proud to say, a very sensible girl!!

Jane Carroll, are your girls married, in nice relationships or happily single?

Thanks Hannelore, makes me realise what a good job we did as parents....down under we are called Mum!
