Dear Sig,
Christians are spiritual people, too. Right? I like Nora Robert's, "Three Sisters Trilogy"; Melinda Haynes, "Mother of Pearl"; A. Manette Ansay's, "Vinegar Hill; and happy, upbeat stuff, such as: Joyce Meyer 'n Norma Vincent Peale. I enjoy TRUE stories but dislike graphic sex, gory descriptions, lots of suffering. I LOVE Christ, people and America! [Razz]

Bonnie,

Hi. I totally missed your post because I got wrapped up in that other thread that I had started. Yes, Christians are spiritual :-)

I don't know Nora Roberts but I know several people who like her. Does she write romance? In fact, I don't know any of the writers that you mentioned except for Norman Vincent Peale.

My favorite authors of all time are Joyce Carol Oates, Tom Wolfe, Pat Conroy, Pearl S. Buck and a dozen others whose names escape me right now. Currently, I am reading "Kite Runner" and it is fantastic. Usually I don't understand why books make the bestseller list, but this one is a real keeper.

Best, Sig

Hi, I like Pat Conroy too. "Beach Music" was such a good story and so well written. Books make the best seller list because the sell a lot! Sigrid, if you sold millions of books using Authorhouse as a publisher, you would still not be on the best seller list because the best seller list counts sales from traditional publishing houses only. At least, that's what I think I learned. For example, the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series was originally self-published, with no sales in context to the best seller list. When Health Communications picked up the series, it became a best seller. Same with "A Child Called It." I think! I wish I had more time to read.

Don't give it a 2nd thought...I miss postings, too. Tried reading Hillary's "Living History" and those Harry Potter books. Both are suppose 2 B number 1 best sellers. Great marketing is what makes so-called Best Sellers!!! Has taken months to wade thru lady Clinton's story and I'm still not done. Managed to plow thru 1 1/2 Harry Potter books....NO can do! Seems society buys whatever media pushes. [Roll Eyes]
