New words: anxious, cold, winter, distress
Yes, I'm anxious for sweet spring to set finally in, For the winter wind has crept under my goose-pimpled skin.
I shiver and tremble at the dreary skies above, The sound of scraping shovels is not what I love.
Icy finger tips turn the cold car keys, Fog billows from my mouth as I cough and wheeze.
Distressed crows fly, like black clouds in the grey gloom, Caw caw they scream; on telephone cables they loom.
Something catches my eye, and I bend down low. Halleluiah! It's a purple crocus peeking out of the snow!
New words
Talk, weekend, journal, despite

Now that was cute, Edelweiss3! Real sweet! New words: Talk, weekend, journal, despite
I talk a great, great deal, 'bout beginning a journal, for real. Then days go bye, The weekend passes, too, I think I'll write what happens down, But that just isn't true. Thoughts don't materialize, And I just never do. Despite best intentions, I jabber 'bout how it'll be, Then never follow through.
New words: Beauty, valentine, February, quarter

Jabber, I thank you for keeping this thread alive. Your poems are always a joy to read.
I wrote a poem just a couple of days ago to enter into a poetry contest. The theme was; write anything about television. After finishing it, I then read;...submissions only allowed from within the US...oh well..so here it is to share with you: **********************************************************
Remember how antennas looked like bunny ears? They had hundreds of designs, alone at Sears.
Flat bases, round ones, square, and many more, On the sets, they stood; - as part of the décor.
Now, please ignore television for a minute. This is about design, - and not what's in it.
On top of that TV was not only an antenna, But a bowl of apples, pears and a ripe banana.
Almost all had a photograph in a fancy frame. Of family, babies, or some sexy dame.
Noticed how TV's are getting more slender by the year? Contrary to my bottom; - it fills the chair with the ears.
Where shall we put all our plastic pink roses; Which we won at the fair, shooting red clown noses?
Now the porcelain dancing figurine is lost by the books, Pirouetting between magazines; where nobody looks.
They are talking about watching the new digital TV, Why there isn't even enough room for a tiny Kiwi!
Forget the plastic flowers and the Hummel ornaments, No more place for photos, antennas, and candle-stick scents.
From the digital boob tube, I turn my easy chair away, and smile at the book shelves, where my memories all lay.
I close my ears and eyes to the new flickering screen Remembering gone by days; - better than any TV scene.
********************************************************* Anyone else game to write a poem about television?

Aw Chatty, thank you. I have so much fun writing these poems. They are second nature to me..sometimes while driving, I create poems in my head....Is that wierd?
Don't answer that question.

Edleweiss3, I love your poem! It's neater than green sneakers!
TV, hey?
The first TV I seem to recall, Was back in the 50s, When I wasn't very tall.
A picture black 'n white, And a screen not that wide, Our homestead had but one, It was all a farmer could abide.
Grandpa and I watched Gunsmoke, Where Dodge City and Dillion, Grappled cowpokes 'n horses, While gunslingers kept on killin'.
Me, I Loved Lucy, She put on quite a show, I laughed 'til I cried, Seein' Lucy all aglow.
TVS are now thinner, And large as can be, Seen em' hung on a wall, Installed in cars and SUVs.
But this I'll contend, Even today it seems true, Lucy's comic relief, Is the best programming aired, For the likes of me and you.
New words: Horses, camels, desert, heat
But if you wish, you're welcome to choose 4 other words, you think are cool 'n neat!
