Cindy... many moons ago I lived in Point Mugu. Really loved the long drives up & down the coast line, and the stops along the way for seafood. Such a beautiful area...I miss the beach.

Cindy.....I was born in Eureka, CA. Only lived there until 20, then moved here to the Pacific NW. I'm sorry, but I don't know where Cottonwood is located. Please tell me. I'm a Red Hatter too. Just had a wonderful Greek nite out. Good food! I'm also working on my weight. I've lost 60 lbs. and only want to take off ten more, but they just want to stick around. Good luck on your weight loss program. I'm doing water aerobics at a club I joined last month. It's flooded now, so can't get to it. You will love this forum, and you'll find you will be with us all the time. Welcome! Lynne

Welcome from another newbie. I've always thought the Red Hatters seemed so much fun, but somehow can never find a group that meets when I can. One day...

![[Big Grin]](images/icons/grin.gif) Wow, Thanks to all who welcomed me. That is really neat. To: ellenmarie- you can form your own Red Hat group and you will be the Queen! Just log on to their site for info. Dianne- Daughters of the British Empire- a non profit group who fund raised for the community the group is in and the British Home in thier area. To be a member, you need to be a desendent of any country of the British Empire ( old or new) or be married to such a person. I took the short cut and married a Brit. Dotsie, for some reason I haven't figured out how to join the BWS diet group. L. Smith-Cottonwood is just off the I-5 just south of Redding. Redding, Anderson, Cottonwood. yepthatsme2- The So. Cal seen is great, I grew up in Oxnard the last '60's were great beach days. It is sooo populated now- I'm love'n the quiet country life and go back for quick visits to the family, whom all still live there. Thanks to all, Cindy-B

Cindy........I had a '58 'vette that I raced in Redding. Had a lot of friends there, but never heard of Cottonwood. You get really hot there don't you?!!! Was there one year to visit friends when I was pregnant with my first dtr., and I nearly passed out from the heat. It's sure different than the beach. Enjoy yourself here. Lynne

Dotsie......oh yeh I raced my '58 'vette in the drag races in Redding Ca, and Somoa, Ca. What a blast! Even tho' I didn't have much of a single life, as I was married at 18, I found out if you wanted guys to be interested in you, you learned about cars and sports. I was a fast learner!!! The 'vette was tourquoise with white inserts on the doors. I had a rag top and hard top for her. When I was racing I had a big 427 clutch in her with a small 283 engine in her. Was constantly changing the carberator to race and then change to drive on the streets. Had cheater slicks that were pretty dangerous to drive on the open road. Did a full 180 on 101 one time right in front of a cop when the it was raining. One thing about being young, blonde, and telling the cop it was "my boyfriend's" car got me out of trouble so many times!!! Us blonde's aren't supposed to be smart.....right? One time when driving to work(9 months prego)the 'vette stalled on me, and there I was on 101 with the hood up taking the carberator apart with my belling resting on the fender. I was a pretty site. Not one person stopped to ask if I needed help!! I guess I didn't look that dumb after all. Had to sell her when I just got to big and couldn't fit behind the steering wheel anymore. To this day I kick myself everytime I think about my 'vette and selling her. I found one in Eastern Washington that was selling for $80,000!!!! Don't want another one that bad. I also rode bikes(motorcycles)but got smart and now watch the grandsons ride them. Had a girlfriend that raced them and tried to talk me into it, but no thank you. Did get to drive my cousin's Caddy in a Stock Car race. Now that was fun!!! That's why I now have my Miata. I still have that need for speed!!!!!! My story......... Lynne
