The family gathered, it wasn't so hard,
each holding things they found in the yard
Me with my handsaw, Joe with his sticks,
Jake to give rhythm with his red tinted bricks
Pappy joins in on a new running chord
with his knee propping up the family washboard
Female and male all fall into fun
as the pulse of the meters come together as one
At the point of crescendo, our concert takes shape
our souls all revived with joyous escape
Nothing on earth could bring us such pleasure
than melding as one with each pounding measure
After we're spent, and tools put away
We look at each other, a new memory to weigh
Thank God for family and music.

(seems easier to work something up in more than four lines - thanks... AND you all are sooooooo good!!!! talented!!!!!)

gims,
Love the poem. Don't have time to do a rising, fox, create, spotted poem right now. Maybe I can get back to it in a couple
days. When I read those 4 words, I pictured a fox leaping across a hayfield at sunrise and a spotted pony eating in a pasture.
Word association is a real trip. You've gotta love it!

I loved reading your work - thanks for sharing. There is so much out there that can be done with poetry. I would start researching and submitting. Perhaps you'll be the next poet laureat. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

PS. I was very sad for Bonita Rose, yet I suspect that her story is not that unusual. As adults we don't realize the full effect of our actions on kids. Even at a very young age. Her trust level will never be the same. There are a lot of Bonita Rose's out there!

Gims… you are a poet…and I hope you know it!
Since no one else is responding…..here I go again.

New words: rising, fox, create, spotted

Quote:
Red coat, pointy ears, a proud little fellow
Don’t be shy, little fox, peeking out of your burrow.

Come look and see, what grows at your front door,
God has planted a meal, no need to want more.

The sun has risen above the top of the trees.
Wild raspberries are swaying in the morning breeze.

Sun beams create spotted patterns on the ground
little fox fills up his belly, and falls asleeps content and sound.

New words: Vote, Obama, McCain, drama

Not sense high school have I seen such drama
A man named McCain against another named Obama
The vote will decide which one leads the nation
Hopefully ending people's growing frustration
Or not!

I love this game, forgot about it for a minute though, but I'm backkkkk!

I wasn't wearing a single stitch,
when my hubby hit me playfully with a SWITCH.

I yelled you fool you'll leave a MARK,
You think its funny, say its just a lark.

Bet if I'd slap you silly with the kitchen mop,
You start spinning around just like a TOP.

Oh give me a break, stop the sad face,
Its about time I put you in your PLACE.

Words: Parlor, Piano, Pizza, Pumpkin

Gosh, I couldn’t resist this one Chatty. You picked such fun words.

Paul and Paula sitting in a parlour
Eating pizza and pumpkin pie
With puffing pig cheeks, bigger than a dollar
They were prompted to sing a lullaby.

Paul played proudly on his purple piano,
Paula piteously pivoted the polka prettily
You look like a punchy, pink nosed piranha
Said Paul to Paula pointedly.

The moral of the story, is try not to rhyme
With words starting with the same letter
Obviously I wrote this in a few minutes time
Now YOU try…I bet you are better!

laugh

Can we stay with Chatty's words? Next one!
Parlor, Piano, Pizza, Pumpkin

Poppa's piano sat in the parlor, bright and shiny,
'twas a small baby grand...
For Halloween a scary ole pumpkin,
Stood next to the spinet on an iron stand.
I ordered a pizza every now and then,
For pop had cravings, like any red blooded man.
As fate would have it, our delivery boy,
Showed up at the house with such youthful joy...
May I play the piano, he said with a grin,
What could it hurt the lad was already in.
Folks, please keep your cash tip,
and simply allow me to take a musical trip.

Live, life, love, lessons

Woops,
Parlor, piano, pizza, pumpkin

My mom made me pizza; it wasn't my choosing,
a hot steamy pie, cheese melted and oozing
Atop the piano she placed it when ready
the smell was so stinky, it made me feel heady
Once she departed the malodorous parlor
I followed her exit with a disgruntled holler
"Momma, oh momma, confused in your kitchen,
somehow you messed up when doing your mixing.
This should have cheese and one other toppin',
but certainly not spice and pieces of pumpkin."
