I'm gonna see if I can write a poem using fickle, vinegar, elephant, night owl, thread, broke, hurt and end. Here goes:

A night owl is either human or fowl,
Both are mean but it's the guy that will growl.
Nocturnal habits, each one has,
The bird is active but he isn't bad.
A party animal runs around every night,
He doesn't sleep and he loves to fight.
Some men are fickle and morally weak,
Then again the owl has sharp talons
and a short hooked beak.
The elephant and the owl,
have nothing in common, it's true,
The elephant never forgets but
it will seldom mistreat you.
So what I'm saying I guess, dear friend,
Vinegar won't sour an expression faster then,
The decision to deliberately offend,
Nocturnal beings, whether fowl or men.


I started to sew an ole worn shirt,
But the needle broke and my hand did hurt.
Then I noticed the spool of thread,
Was near the end, so I went to bed.


Forget the night owls and elephants, my poetry has gone to the dogs!

Our book of Punny Poems...maybe we should start one. I so enjoy reading everyones poems. It's amazing what enters our mind with the use of four little words. I believe this thread will keep on keeping on. I'll be back to write later. I need to visit more posts.

Trying to catch up here, I'll combine chatty's four (fickle, vinegar, elephant, night owl) with chick's four (wolf, viking, decor, modeling)...

What she took came into question
As she looked around
Her world had changed immensely
According to what she found

An elephant sat next to her
With vinegar to pickle
A tail, a nose, an ear, which one?
The big dude was so fickle

Sitting on the other side was
A night owl with a squirm
Every other "Whoo" was "Ouch"
As he watched the Pachyderm

A wolf paced back and forth
Nervous, that's for sure
He had a tail, a toe, and all
No loss could he endure

Laughing quietly to himself
On the sofa table
Was a Viking, feeling safe
Modeling his mansome cable

The room's decor had even changed
From nice to quite pathetic
She knew she'd learned the side effects
Of powerful anesthetics

"I'll just lay here and sleep it off,"
Her last thoughts were that night
A saner world she traveled to
The crazies out of sight


And place jabber's four back in the line-up:
better, improve, reform, restore

'For better or worse', - so they say.
Those words cross our lips, on our wedding days.

But they forgot some other valuable tidbits,
Like what to do when the marriage hits those dark ugly pits.

Of course those years as a couple can improve,
But nothing remains stagnant, everything does move.

Sometimes a marriage can’t be reformed or restored,
Whether it’s about money, infidelity, or you’re just plain bored.

A valuable message is sung in all love songs,
About a time to stay, and a time to move on.

Only you can be the song writer of your own life,
That song is about you; not just being a wife.

Here's a warning for all you to heed,
Watch out for the big, bad wolf, is my creed.
For a wolf will come knocking at your door,
And it matters not what he's done before.
What you're modeling, he cares not at all,
For the food you're eating or your household decor.
A viking one time, long, long ago,
Encountered a wolf, don't you know,
And though a sea rover, the man really was,
That wolf chewed the viking,
Then spit out the fuzz.
