gims,
You write the neatest poems, especially when you say they're
hard words. You must like a challenge!

I feel so alone,
though I try real hard,
to fight the good fight,
both day and night!

I work long hours,
here at home,
I seldom waste time,
and do rarely roam.

When life is o'er,
and those left behind,
Examine my life, I hope they find,
I won some, I lost some, but tried my best,
And those that knew me, fore they put me to rest,
Could plainly see, I loved them all,
no matter their spirit, big or small!

New words:
Vote, weather, shiney, gloom

Oh man...you are all so good. Jabber, that was your best poem yet!
Me? I got writer's block.

I agree, Jabber I really like that one. I enjoy each and every one written here. I don't have time to write right now but I will be back soon.

GLOOM and doom is all I see,
The WEATHER is lousy all around me.

If only I hadn't sold my boat,
I'd sail to the mainland so I could VOTE.

My dress is pressed, my shoes are SHINY,
Who will I pick to take me to town,
I know, I play eenie, meenie, minee...

WORDS: perfect, music, hayride, justice

chatty, I was wondering how someone was going to get those four to work... you did it! ...and I'll be challenged if you didn't pick four more hard ones!

jabber, I agree, that's your best yet...

is that what it is when nothing pops into our heads, EW, writer's block... hilarious graphic illustrating it!

Remember the hayride of '58
The both of us staying out way too late
A perfect moon shining oh so clear
You whispering affections in my ear
We heard music that no one was playing
It drowned out all that others were saying
Love's justice was given to us that night
Tho fifty years gone, you're still my delight.

pillow, shoe, cotton, place

pillow, shoe, cotton, place ... Now these were fun easy words. Thanks Gims. Your poem reminded me of Elizabeth Browning.

Have you ever lost something like glasses or a ring?
Gone crazy looking for the darn lost thing?
You look under shoes, pillows and rugs
Cotton sock drawers and porcelain jugs.

You look and you pray, help me find my darn thing
Where oh where can it be, I’ve looked under everything!
AAAH, then you look in the mirror at your own sad face
And see that the glasses you lost, are sitting in the right place.

America wants to be strong
It's beginning to ring some bells
But will this REALLY be a new song?
Or will it be a fresh new hell?

Our country is so divided
I only have one thing to say
God please guide and help our leaders
In the good OLD U S of A

Loved your poem, jawjaw!!!

Our ole oak trees and acorn fruit,
Will soon be covered with snow,
We'll see kids on sleds and kids in boots,
Fore winter is comin', you know!

Cows and horses and mules they'll move,
Inside the barn and out of the cold.
Our pettin' zoo for sure will close,
And the monkey and goats and all of those,
Must live indoors so they're not exposed.
It's freezin' weather, up here in the north,
During those first and last months of the year,
And much loved critters, ought be protected,
By those that love them so dear!

Tiny tots with new toys in mind,
Jump for joy and are unable to unwind.
They need not be told, "say cheese little one,"
Fore their grins already have begun.
Listen up, my friend, and you will hear,
Christmas is coming, Christmas is near,
It's 'round the bend, it's that time of year!

New words:
Fluffy, pine, field, wine

... and EW, your poem was written about me. So often, I go looking for my glasses and they are on my head, as the common joke goes... also, sometimes, I'll reach up to adjust them at the bridge AND I don't even have them on. Think it's time for lasik?

Love it, JJ... how apropos!

acorn, snow, monkey, cheese

I went to the local zoo
Just the other day
Found a strange monkey
Playing with some clay

But, after getting closer
And getting on my knees
I put my face up to the glass
Then thought it might be cheese

When the monkey saw my face
He dropped the odd Play-Doh
Then a thought came to me
The stuff must be old snow

It didn't melt upon the ground
I watched it for awhile
Besides it was a puky brown
Which made me think of bile

Yes, I came to know by then
The stuff, a ball of goo,
Was stepped upon by the monk
To expose the final clue

Within the flattened gooey mess
An acorn sat so proud
The monkey simply wanted
To get the acorn out

Chance had made a crooked deal
The seed had landed so
To be in Monkey's dinner meal
Then in his weird Play-Doh

(this comes from me actually seeing an ape playing with a mess he made)

new words:
blaze, heart, soft, fell

ooops... I was working on mine when jabber posted, so we'll go back to her words:
fluffy, pine, field, wine
