Its not only cheaper Anne but while helping the mental challenges it also promotes better physical health too. It's a win-win situation.

I exercise, too. I think that helps. I read uplifting material and try to think positive. Writing is a wonderful release. I know I've said that before. IMO PTSD can be overcome with effort.

I agree, both physical and mental exercise helps with PTSD. Flashbacks can be just as debilitating as a physical injury. Which is why I try to keep my mind busy and positive. Does not always work, but I do try.

There was a time when meds were more debilitating to me than helpful. But I suppose it depends of the person and the situation with which they're coping. It is not easy to train
one's mind to replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts,
but a determined effort can bring forth good results. IMO

Iv not been through a big bunch of diffrent types of AD medicasion but have heared a lot of horror stories about them and sometimes the tranquilisers needed with them and their side effects. Useless saying names as probablie diffrent. However the old tri-cyclics are much much diffrent from the newer bread of AD.

ann327 isen't it ironic that most people whom benifit from exercise (the depresed) lack motivasion to exercise. When we most need positive thoughts we are most uncapable of generating positive thoughts.

i was addicted to work, studie god and exercsis and "used" both to stave of a badd or low mood, energie promoted energie in my case but at times their was just to much energie as i though then which tunred out to be agitasion. And that energie agitasion had me exercising in middle of night, painting redecorating every 3 mounths, sometimes starting at 10 at night becouse i could't seattle. I was left topping up on thse behaviours i used to change my mood dailie and sometimes the dailie behaviours would break dowen in effectivness anyway. The energie agitasion excousted me resulting in physical tiredness which would bring around a low mood, it was a wee cycle of horror.

I onlie took my first medicasion AD when i became solie responsible for L not A which was joined responsibility. that little tablet made my life as diffrent as day is to night.

The dowen side lol, my walls stay same coler for a year, i not addicted to work, studie or exercise my house is messie. Work studie or exercise aint the worst things to be addicted to, lets face it but it dose take time and attension away from ones familie like all addictions do and it did have me distracted. I offten shudder when i think if i haden't given in and went to my doc (and it was a guinine giving in) i woul't know how id cope after the accident when exercise and work was imposible to do, so what id used all my life to cope could't be done i think id have went insane.

Many people live all their lives in a pattern symilare to what i have described in a degree of comphort others do the above and are still majorlie uncomphortable it just depends on the degree of uncomphortable i gess.

I would also agree with you that some people could avoide the AD cycle if they could brake the lethargie and just get some good exercise i am sure a lot of people are on tablets needleslie and overperscibing from doc still occuring big time, docs just not having time to talk or solve a problem. I also bear in mind that a doc has one majour outlook or function and that is too medicate, thats what thir tranned to do and the main option they have to help people.
i also think societies changed and we traned to tolerate a lot less distress or dischomphort and want most things fixed now or too be forever happie which somehow seems to demand medicasion and not action to solve itself.

Anyway am i on a soap box lol.

i climb dowen now and agree with ya about points mentioned and jabber determined EFFORT is needed with or without meds eh! That retrannings possible but takes a lot of garding and tending, like we would tend a small gardeners plott. the works brings us good smelling flowers, lol no jokes about manure lol
