Hi Ladies, I used to lurk and communicate but for the last couple of months have not taken the time to come to the site. BUT, I'm back and happy to be here again.
Greene 415, better known as Kathy but that name was already taken so I answer to Greene.

It is nice to be back and even nicer to be remembered. I wish I could tell a great story about what I have been up to but it would have to be a tall tale. Actually I have been doing nothing much. I did finally get a laptop. It is a Mac so I have put in some time figuring out how to use a different operating system. Other that that there is nothing new. I have kept myself busy staying sane and sober, avoiding housework and visiting with my pregnant (finally!) daughter.
Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies, it is appreciated.

Welcome back, Greene. Avoiding housework will keep you sane.
Don't know about staying sober, though. Not doing much of nothing, is a cool way to go. How about those double negatives?
I should've paid more attention in English class, I guess.
But I didn't know then, I'd be writing stuff for the whole world
to read. LOL...

Another plus of growing older, you don't have to be as meticulous as you once were. No one expects it from old folks. Grandmas house is to have fun in, right? Baa-humbug to housework.
The dirt will be here long after we're gone. When I think of all the hours spent on my knees all those years, I could just spit!!!

Years ago I cross-stitched a sign that said 'a clean house is the sign of a misspent life' as a reminder to myself to keep my priorities in line.

Welcome back, Greene415! I like your name. It balances with Red a.k.a. Queen JJ. And, with artic weather set to strike London again, I might as well call myself "Blue" for a few days. When is your daughter due?

Thanks for the warm welcome, Lola. The only problem with the name came when my kids had to learn to spell the color green in school. They always got it wrong at first!
The baby isn't due until Sept. It's funny, when my daughter-in-law was expecting I was totally into it and very excited about it all. But somehow it is different with a daughter expecting, somehow I feel more connected to the whole thing. I wonder if that is normal?
I hear London can be rough in the winter. How cold has it been so far?

Perfectly normal when it's your daughter, Greene.

Weather in London today is max 2 and min -1. So, it feels very brrrrrrrrrr! But, compared to towns up north, it's summertime in London. grin

Chatty,
My grandmother always said something like what you just said in your last post, here. "The dirt will be there long after I'm gone." Sounds as if London is having the type of winter we're
having in Northeast USA. I have never seen so much snow before, in my life. And I've lived here all my life! Enjoy yourself
greene!

Well, it's snowing now which means leaving for work early tomorrow as they did not grit the roads tonight. Monday and delayed trains...not a good combination. Bummer!!!

OMG! Its February already. Where the heck did January go? I doubt I have ever seen a month speed by so quickly. HUmmm, when we get older is it true time passes faster, or is it just our imaginations.

Unfortunately, it's true: The years roll like a runaway semi
down a Great Smoky Mountain. First it's New Years, then the 4th of July, then Thanksgiving and Christmas. Pretty soon you're remembering something, which happened fifty years ago. LOL...
Ya gotta laugh...!

Wow Anne, I never heard that explanation before but it makes perfect sense.

Jabber, I remember waiting for what seemed like forever to be 13 and a teenager, then to be sweet 16, which also took forever in my mind, then to be 18 and graduated and driving, then 21, 25, even 30.

My wishing to grow older decidedly slowed down after 35 and before I knew it 40 reared its ugly head and its been a roller coaster ride straight down ever since....

I now am looking at 60 in my 'REAR' view mirror. Damn I could swear I was just 40 yesterday!!!

I have always thought that explanation mde lots of sense, 1/60th of my life flies by much faster that 1/10th or even 1/20th. At this rate it will all be a blur by the time we are 80!

The problem is, everybody else looks older. I still think I'm
a kid. I remember being the youngest one at the kitchen table.
I was nine years old, yesterday. It's difficult to wrap one's
brain, around [time] that nobody can fence in.

jabber, I hear you. We were talking about being married 30 years this coming summer, and I wondered how that could possibly be if I'm still in my 30s.

I once read that the speed of the heartbeat has to do with how one conceives time.

A child has a much faster heartbeat than an adult. Therefore time passes slowly for him. When you see senior residents rocking away in their chairs all day, and they say time passes quickly; it's because their heartbeat is so slow.

Same thing with insects. For example, the Mayfly lives only a day, and its heart beats trillion times faster than ours. So his day seems like years.

Makes sense to me.

Well my heart stopped beating almost completely after my second husband died and yet each day I grow older.

Jabber, I have to agree with your statement of being the youngest at the table. I too was, and feel the same way, plus I still feel that way and when getting a look by accident of myself in a window or mirror, I wondefr for an instant, who that woman is looking back at me. I guess I have no true realization of myself aging. It still comes as a shock to me. Does that make any sense to anyone?

Chatty,
It makes sense to me. I'm blown away by the passage of time.
I don't have a true realization of my own aging, either. I feel 20 something most of the time. My cousin and I often joke about old times. And she can't believe how fast the years have flown. By the bye, I think Elations does ease pain. Little by little, I hurt less and less. I've been drinking Elations for over 5 months; and, a majority of the time, I'm pain free.

Thats great its good to have a product that actually is as good as it says it is...YEAH, Elations!!!

Maybe if I had some aches and pains I would feel older but the good Lord has been good to me and I come from strong stock. I bounce around pretty easily, and my mind is very young in thoughts.
