I've followed the newsletter for a long time and even have a story posted on BoomerWomenSpeak from a couple of years ago. It's called "Second Chances". It is a story of my son's head injury and our experience together through it.

to let you know a little about me: I have six children, three grandchildren, am married to my best friend. We just had our 10th anniversary in the Fall. We are both writers. I am a ghostwriter, author of Christian fiction and mainstream novels. My husband is also a professional editor - lucky for me - an in-house editor. I'm also partner in our own business consulting company.

When I'm not writing or consulting, I love to spend time with my family, read, garden, sew or quilt, or having a book signing.

I really look forward to being a part of this community for us Boomer sisters.

celtic_flame,
I'm impressed by anyone who can raise lots of children. I consider that the hardest job in the world. And, since I wasn't
good at it myself, I revere those who succeed at parenting, especially multiple times!

Welcome Dianne50! I hope you find a home-away-from-home with us here. I was never able to have children of my own, but did a lot of nannying to put myself through school, so have a great deal of respect for all mothers. I had 3 friends who had 5, 5 and 6 children respectively, and their homes are always full of energy, laughter (amidst the squabbling) and love. I babysat often for two of them, and always came away utterly exhausted.

Despite not having any children of my own, I HAVE been blessed with two beautiful grandchildren (8 & 2) through my husband's son. They are the light of my life, and I am indescribably grateful for the joy and laughter they bring into my heart.

Welcome to BWS and hello from London, Dianne50! I went to read Second Chances and your story is so close to what my family went through in 2001. And, like your story, all is well and I am always grateful for the gift of life.

Looking forward to running into you in the other threads!

Welcome Diane(50) -- I'm a newbie, too - and like you, I had(have) an essay in the "Our Voices" - way back when I first met Dotsie and submitted it and she took it. I was so excited and have ever been grateful to her. At that time, I didn't have much published - just a few little things in the local paper magazine or something like that. So, you can say Dotsie gave me the confidence to do other things. *smiling*

Six children! wow!

I do editing, too, besides the writing -- it's nice to meet other writers and editors, and COOL coolwomen here. I'm quite excited to be a part of this.

I'll go read your story...

Celtic from the looks of little L, I'm sure you are good at raising a child. He looks happy and loved.

I am the last of 6 children and a twin to boot, so I knew I only wanted a couple of children. I only had a son and a daughter. Enough for me.

Welcome Kathryn and Dianne, I'm sure you'll love it here.

Dianne50, I read your story and was deeply moved by it. You write so well. Having spent the better part of 4 weeks in ICU sitting at my brother's bedside, I could relate to so much in your story. Thank you for sharing!

How moved I was to read your experience with your son's injury Dianne- I can't imagine what you went through, except the imaginings of a mother - no one wants that call!

I'm so glad he's recovered with just those "few" lingering pains - and i hope those are managed well for him....

Welcome schoolhilg, unusual name does it have a meaning? Sorry for all your allergies. I have none except for the one about being around rotten men. They make my skin crawl, LOL!!!

Welcome, fellow teacher.

I, too, have allergies. They don't keep from living my life, but I do get tired of wiping mascara off of my cheeks.

Welcome schoolhilg. My husband and one son are allergic to cats. My MIL had two cats. They took an over the counter allergy medicine before going to her house. Unfortunately, it made them tired, but ti was the only way we could go without their eyes turning red, throats closing, and getting the sniffles. Visiting in the winter when everything was closed up was hard. Spring and summer visits were better.

i itch a lot and sniff more smile i get more embarised with the sniffing and blowing but i tell me frends that have dogs so i not so embarised.

i take an anti hysti mine for hayfever but also covers all sorts of things from dustmites to animals to whatever. it helps a lot.

i can't stop living my life or hoverring (unfortunitly) my house is carpeat free but when i visite someone i try to stay focused on visite and not on how itchie i am lol.

at lest my frends know its allergie and not that i have bugs myself lol smile
