Wish they'd invent an elixir,
Or maybe a potion would do,
Women could use and rely on,
For tempering emotional blues.

One minute a gal can be happy,
fluttery and even a bit glad,
Two minutes later she's bummed 'n angry,
and startin' to grow a might sad.
One second she's in the spirit,
Seconds later she's feelin' resent,
Monday she might be mellow,
By Tuesday she's gettin' all bent.
Wednesday she's distressed and strung out,
Thursday she sportin' a pout,
Friday arrives, she's barely alive,
And wonderin' what life's all about!

The largest roller coaster ever made,
Rises not to emotional grades.

Today you might fly higher,
Than any kite has ever flown,
Tomorrow you've lost your balance,
And fallen farther than man's ever known.

I love being a female,
Feeling sensitive, frilly 'n all,
What I don't like,
Are uncontrolled feelings,
And the severity of emotional falls.

I tried to write a poem about rollercoaster emotions, but this is what flowed out. It kind of surprised me, I didn't know it was still there, but I suppose it is a big part of the "why" of my rollercoastering emotions.

There’s a sorrow that fills my soul
A brokenness that just won’t mend
An anguish that’s rooted deep inside
Where my loved ones used to stand
One by one they have all passed on
Leaving footsteps across my heart
Leading only to memories fading fast
And to dreams now lost in the dark
Oh, I wander from day to day
Wondering how to make my way
Through the rubble of torn and scattered hopes
The path has been lost in the pain.
Every day is a paradox
Where life is a gift, yet fraught
With anguish and sorrow for all that’s lost -
Yet a yearning to think new thoughts
Of all I still have to hold and embrace
The love and the light and the sweetest grace
Of faith that has weathered the strongest tides
And carried me through to this other side
Of the sorrow that fills my soul
Where the brokenness aches to mend,
The anguish will someday lead me through
To the place where their love still stands.

Eagle, your poem is absolutely beautiful and very deep. I know you are truly expressing your thoughts. I hope putting them down helped relieve some of that sorrow.
The poem should be put to music.

Any new words?

Ladies, every time I come to this forum, I can realte to your writing. You're amazing. I don't know how you do it. How long does it take you to write these responses?

Edel3 and Eagle,
I love your poems. IMO emptying the soul via this method,
is good for all of us.

Dotsie,
Some days they just flow. Other days nothing goes. Some days I can post like crazy; other days I can't post a word. But when writing works, it's fun to see what develops. Even an author can be
pleasantly surprised.

Dotsie it takes me usually between 10 and 30 minutes to write a poem.

New words; springtime, music, softness, rivers

Springtime makes you feel like a kid on a field,
Ready to jump and kick up his heals.

But there is also the low mellow side:
Step in my boat and come for a ride.

Feel the softness of the pillows and look up at the sky,
Listen to the oars dip as you slowly glide,

Through green sea weeds and a river of flowers,
Fingertips in the water, you could do this for hours.

Wavy reflections of clouds and weeping willows,
Bird calls, like music, echoing high and low,

Catching life in a peaceful spring time glow,
Together in a boat,… row row row.

New words; call, long, yearning, dream
Or use jabber’s words. They are so lovely.

call, long, yearning, dream

Come on, dots, give it a try...
The call to do so, you can't deny
Long or short, wordy or not
Dream-like, serious, or with a plot
Find the yearning deep inside
Feelings 'n thoughts you otherwise hide
For within us all are perfect gems
Ready to be our thoughtful poems
...so, come one, dots, give it try.

bleak, tough, drought, smart

You gals are cool!

New words: bleak, tough, drought, smart

If there wasn't a drought,
And times weren't bleak,
The economy wasn't tough,
Stock markets weren't weak,
If countries had more confidence,
In increased services 'n goods,
People would sport big smiles,
And smart folks who wanted work, could.

New words: beam, rejoice, sensitivity, essential

Dotsie,
It takes me from a few minutes to a half hour to write a poem,
depending on the mood I'm in and what words are given. Some things fall into place easier than others. But it's a lot of fun. And
if I come back and don't like the way they sound, I'll edit some.
