I think acknowledgement like you have described is a kind gesture to let the loved ones know that she mattered. I know if it were me, I would appreciate this kind of thoughtfulness.

And since you were really just ships passing, I would think this would be appropriate and enough acknowledgement. You are very kind to do so, I might add...some people would just say to themselves, "oh gosh, I hate to hear that" and let it go. I think you are letting the family know she mattered...and isn't that what we all want to know? That we mattered? Good for you Vicki, you are a kind soul!
