I remember when I was 5 and Grandma was in her 60's. She was friends with a neighbor lady who was 50 and one day the two of them came to visit Mom and see the grandkids.

She introduced her friend and said "She has a granddaughter too."

I looked at her friend and said, "But you don't look old enough to be a grandma!" The minute I blurted it out, I was sure I'd be punished for saying it.

The three adults had a good laugh and the lady gave me a big hug and said what an adorable little girl I was.

Many years later I still recalled that incident and asked Mom why no one scolded me that day.
