Have any of you noticed that this site is much slower this past month or two??? It takes me ages to get back to the forum after having written something. Or maybe I want to change forums,,same thing..it takes ages...WHY???? I often write at a different period of time as I live in Sweden. but that doesn´t seem to help at all either. Just wondering and trying to be patient. Last time I had a cig in the kitchen while I waited..now that´s definitely not good!!!

Lots of love and thanks for any info I can get...

Mine goes up and down. Lately it has been slower to load pages and I give up and do something else. Thought it was my dsl, but other sites are doing better.

I cannot type without "timing out." I just timed myself and my last rejected post was written and submitted in less than four minutes.

I'm frustrated because I can't even edit. Help, someone!

And yes, I am having difficulties changing forums.

Anyone who is technologically astute have any answers?

Thanks in advance.

I don't get it. I'm not having any problems at all. Let me check with my Web master and see if she has any ideas why it's working differently for all women. I can fly around these forums. Every now and then, it takes a little longer on my lap top, but even then it's pretty dang fast.

I've noticed this site has been reallllly slow too. The pages take a long time to load. Like Kathy, I thought it was my DSL, but other sites I would visit would load very quickly.

Ok..then it´s not just me..had my own personal computer expert "clean" my computer earlier on this evening..but it hasn´t really helped. So, something´s wrong somewhere, I guess...

There are times when a forum takes several minutes to load. Then last night, I couldn't sign in at all. Every time I clicked on the Login button, the page just refreshed itself - very frustrating. Then today, just a couple of minutes ago, I couldn't get into a forum at all, it just wouldn't load. I have noticed this just in the last few days.

I find that if I never log off, I have no problems what-so-ever. Haven't logged off in a year or better. You might try that ladies. Just open the site up, hit favorites and once its in your favorites permanetly, click it and whalla, you're in.

I do what Chatty does; I never log off.

My biggest problem, as I have complained about in most forums, is that I can't edit because I time out. Even tried not editing and I time out. I'm talking about submitting a reply or posting a thread in three minutes or poof!

Yes, I am. I have a MacBook - switched in March 'cause I had the last straw with Microsoft when their updates messed up my computer yet again.

Hasn't happened to me. The only problem I have had is at my end, when my computer (Vista) crashed again. Love you Microsoft

Actually, no, turtle... it does NOT. This site is absolutely wonderful and if you don't like it you can take your eyes elsewhere!

By the way, I'm on a PC Chick.

No, this site doesn't suck. That's certainly a harsh thing to say.

I'm sorry you feel that way Turtle. I'm wondering what brought that on?

turtle, I've read a few of your posts and I'm wondering why you are so angry. Please know that unless you tone down your posts, we will have to delete them. Sorry about that.

Anybody else STILL having trouble with this site being slow, or is it just me?? I don't know......every page on the boomer forum seems like it takes a really long time to load. I've dumped cookies/cache, and have done everything I can think of. We have a very fast internet connection, and I don't have problems with any other sites I visit. We load super fast. I know that if websites are not set up for handling large amounts of mega size pictures or graphics, it can slow the site down considerably. Or maybe....the amount of users on the forum at the same time is more than the server can handle. Just a thought....

I've noticed how much slower the site is lately...and it's not my computer, because I tried accessing BWS from several different computers while on vacation the past few weeks and all were MUCH slower than mine.

I'm wondering if it might have something to do with all of the pictures included in the threads. Even if the pictures are coming from an outside source, could that not affect how quickly (or slowly) those threads load? The slowness seems to have become more noticeable since we began regularly including pictures (some are fairly large) in our threads. Like Cookie says, it could have something to do with how the server is set up to handle graphics, or even how to process the links to those graphics.

Eagle, I'll check on the graphics. The crazy thing is that my office computer is very fast. I can zip around these forums, but my lap top is a little slower, but not enought to mkae me not want to use it.

Anyone else experiencing a slow down while here?

Yes it has slowed down, and I think Eagle's thesis may be correct.

Dotsie it may be possible to have all pictures older then, let's say 6 months, automatically erased. Then the site may pick up speed. You can't judge the speed from your own computer, since you probably have all the direct links installed there. I know, because my website is faster when I go into it, then when an outsider goes into it. I'm sure your computer gurus can do something about it.

I just sent an email to my Web master to see what she has to say. She was stumped last time. If she hasn't come up with anything yet, I'll contact the people who host the forume. I'm still bazing through here. Sorry some of you have slowed down.

It's slow for me at times, too -- like this morning at 8 am Pacific time. Perhaps it's periods when the server is being backed up?

Emily, you could "save" your post by copying it (Control C) periodically. That way if you timed out, you still will have your post and could keep going. I don't time out, so that isn't a problem for me.

I try to stay logged in, but as soon as Norton "cleans my cookies," I'm out...
