Hello,
You all seem like such the sweetest people. And so many are so active and involved and have such exciting lives! That is so wonderful!
I am at home and in my mid 50's and feel this would be a wonderful place to chat with other ladies. There are so many topics here and I feel right at home already! I have 4 kids all in college or older. My daughter is married and has a baby and lives in a city far away. We try to visit often. My boys are tennis players in college and I play too and so does my husband. However, my league days are over. I am a totally recreational player and prefer singles.I have many diverse interests including American History, Georgian antiques, cats, wildlife and conservation, gardening, volunteer work, etc.

I look forward to seeing you around on the board. Well, that's my story, tell me yours if you care to.Sorry for the less than creative title.Have a very nice day!

Backhandgrip,

Welcome! I have two grown, married daughters and one 10 month old granddaughter...also in a far away city...I just told her mom that we were going to have to get webcams so that I can actually see her when we talk...

I'm single...live with a cat...grumpy cat...I write...speak...host an internet radio talk show...and I'm a life coach...it's lots of fun most days...today is one of those fun days!

Hope you'll have a blast hanging out with us!

Jane

Hi backhandgrip....just seeing your user name brought back wonderful memories for me. I played tennis for many years and loved it! However, ten years ago, my knees retired and that was that. My son was a varsity player in high school, but crewed in college. He still loves to play, though.

Welcome and it is a pleasure to meet you.

Hey Backhandgrip!...Here's running at ya, jumping over the net, and giving you a five!
I loved playing tennis too, but switched to golf because of my knee.
It's fine though, spending its retiring days in Knee-Ville with Sistergoldenhair's knees and many others.

Hope you have time between games to stop by and joint the fun!

Hannelore

Hi Backhandgrip. Your name scared me til I read it was a tennis thang. I tried to learn when I was in my 20s. I was booed off the green thingy. Welcome. You'll love it here.

Hi backhandgrip,
Welcome to the forums, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun here and make lots of new friends.

I'm afraid the only thing I know about tennis is when my mom broke her leg when she was attempting a 'come back'. She hadn't played any social tennis for about 25 years, and has never played again since. Bit sad really . Hope you enjoy it more than she did

Looking forward to seeing you around the forum.

Welcome!! I'm a racquetball player myself, and just started playing left-handed about a month ago because I tweaked my right arm.

I look like a real old fart when I play, though, because I have a support band around my left arm and a brace around my left knee. Gotta hold it all together!! I love the exercise.

I'm married, work from home, have two sons (one on his own and one home - age 15) and a fat beagle. Looking forward to getting to know you better!

Kathy

Hello Backhandgrip,

I, too, am glad to find out that your screen name refers to tennis!

My immediate thought was that you must be one of those cool grammies, who wear leather jackets, helmets, and drive motorcycles!!

Since my son has a motorcycle (not approved my me), my two grandsons would be very empressed if I pulled up in front of their house on a Harley!

I look forward to learning more about you!

Welcome backhandgrip. I am not good at it at all.

I play a mean game of ping pong though.

Hi Emily, nice to see you .

I played tennis before. The ball came over the net and hit me in the head and knocked me out clean. Its hard being me.

WELCOME! My best friend is over the Tennis league for the State here, or use to be, I can't remember if she still does that or not. She thinks I'm nuts because I don't play. I think I've managed to stay alive...thank you very much. teehee...

You're gonna love it here!

Welcome backhandgrip. My one month attempting tennis resulted in all my balls being lost (OK, I hear the snickering in the background. Ladies! STOP IT!!) because I hit most of them over the fence, into the other tennis courts, people's gardens, and the duck pond. Neither the other players, the neighbors, nor the ducks were terribly happy with my new sport. I think that was one of my macho stages, when I was big on banging things but low on finesse. (S-T-O-P I-T!!!)

Now I'm engaged in the less damaging pursuits of jewelry making and poetry/essay writing.
