Hi all, and thanks for the welcome. I'm married (coming up 20 years) have a son, shortly to leave for college, and have lived in Italy since '81, so about half my life (work it out ) Ex dance teacher, I am a housewife now, can sometimes be heard talking to the wall/random rocks or, more frequently, to the cat. I paint and make jewellery mostly, and I loathe ironing to the point of obsession.

A belated but warm welcome from me too. Beautiful neighbourhood you live in! My hubby LOVES to iron, so if you're ever open to having working guests, let me know (I'll be the guest half and hubby will be the working half).
Seriously, I hope you enjoy being here. This is a wonderful community of wise, witty, caring women...a home away from home. So take your sandals off and make yourself at home.

Not really, I just married an italian husband!
Current dream is to go back and live in or near London, my favourite place ever, and more or less where I'm from (oh ok, Surrey, but it's near enough).
Meanwhile I just get over there as often as I can, last trip was start of March, next one is start of September
Meanwhile will be making the most of that beach. Oh my town/city is called Latina, not a pretty old town but a Mussolini creation from the 1930s.
Rome's about 40 minutes drive north, and Naples is about two hours drive south.

Welcome Shirley Valentine!!! I have family in Vicenza. It's in Northern Italy, about an hour and a half from Venice, via the train. I visited Italy in the early '90s. Since 9/11, I'm skittish about flying overseas. But that is a beautifully, romantic country. Glad you found your way to this site. The members here are a lively group. I love it. And I know you will, too. Ciao for now, b. rose
