Welcome from one aging boomer to another! You will love this place - it's home away from home for many of us, and for me, these are the sisters I never had.

Hey Mizkity, welcome!! I'm in Wrightwood, about an hour and a half away from you - we're practically neighbors!

I'm married, two kids (one home, one out), run two businesses and just finished the vacuuming. About to go upstairs and start the ribs for dinner.

What JJ? Are you coming for dinner? I might just have some Oreos for you....

You'll meet JJ soon - she's a hoot and a half!

See you round!
Kathy

Hi and welcome, Mitzkity...
You'll love it here. Lots of us love pets; hate aging; love Disneyland for its creativity; and enjoy bellyaching to our buddies on this boomer site. We understand the "adult child" syndrome, too.
Ciao for now,

Yuhooooo! Mitzi, welcome! I also gave you a big HELLO in your other post and hopefully, explained things to help you run around the forums here. Let me know if I can answer anything else. I'm here for ya.

I love your name. When I was younger, I always wanted that name. Can I have it?

WHAT?

Mitzkity, what a great car. Surfer huh? Not much water where I hail from and can't swim a stroke to save my life. WELCOME to our family, we are from all over the world just about. When I say your name it makes me think of Miss Kitty from Gunsmoke, old, old TV show.....

Oh gracious. I can tell you're fitting right in. I also love to do online research, especially about boomer women!

Jawjaw, you DO need glasses. I happen to know a good optometrist. Hey, you'll be seeing him this weekend. Maybe he can help you out!

Welcome, MitzKitty, you'll find a mixed bag here but you'll probably like it, just as I do.

I'm a teenager in a 57 yr. old body too. I love it. Things haven't gone south yet and they seem to be getting better instead of worse. (was a late bloomer)

I love life, its Way Cool. These ladies will energize you, coach you, support you, make you laugh (and I've laughed a lot lately), they'll give you their honest opinions and share great ideas with you so fasten your seatbelt and hop on for the ride.

And here I was on another thread asking you to tell more about yourself. Silly me - you have done this already and more!

Me - live in Minneapolis, no kids BUT! one great adopted grandchild living, quite well, with two beautiful moms in Ireland. Education consultant - life coach - loving wife, sister and daughter - happier than I ever thought I would be at 54 - and a learning junky.

Anno, I never made the connection between you and Celtic and Po until I just read your post. How did you all get together? Did I miss a post somewhere? That's quite interesting.

Celtic, Popea and I made a decison that I would be an adopted grandmother (Granny Annie) to their son, Lucien. Since I have never had a child, thus no grandchildren and both of their mothers are gone, we made a mutual decison to give Lucien a grandmother.

I feel so honored, to be the grandmother of a lovely young man and hopefully, I will live up to that honor in all three of their lives. And to think, it all happened because of BWS.

Anno (AKA Grannie Annie)

Hi, mitzkity...just got my puter back. It went down today for some reason, soon after I made one of my only posts for the day. I was starting to have withdrawals, but dear ol' hubby got it back up and running. Didn't loose a thing, thank goodness. He had to put a video card in that has my print so tiny, I can hardly read it. If I enlarge it, it goes all over my screen... it'll have to do until he gets back from North Carolina next week. He tried to talk me into buying a new one this evening, but I just can't justify the cost. After all, this is a hobby, not a revenue producer.
I'm a researchaholic, TOO! Our chick is one, also. So, you'll have that in common with a great many of us. You have an ecclectic mix, as NL stated, which makes this place soooo very interesting, and well worth hanging out in. I've hung out way too much since I joined (not too long ago).
So, this is my big TEXAS to you....

Welcome to the boomer forum, Mitzkity. You've found THE place to be if you're a boomer woman. I like your style of writing. It sounds like you're coming and going and running here and there in a bunch of different directions. Very cool.

I used to be at tech writer too. Did it for fifteen years and then I "retired" to write women's fiction.

I'm a pet person too.. I have spoiled my dog and parrot silly. But, my children are all grown and on with their own lives. I have one grandson (new, only 5 months old!) and he lives in Arizona. I live in Florida.

I love my DVR too. I record everything I want to watch and then watch it on my schedule. I rarely ever watch "live" TV, unless I'm watching the news.

Enjoy your time here, you'll soon be addicted. We all are.

I'm not sure where my love for cars came from but I did have an uncle who had a huge warehouse full of all sorts of cars. I even bought his 1940 Ford Pick-up after he passed but sold it recently. It was such a hoot...had a corvette engine and just rumbled. I can remember loving cars from my very early teens.

I love your car MitzKity...I can't relate to the NASCAR folks around here near Daytona or my husband's friends who have antique Chevy's. Doesn't mean they aren't right to love them...I just can't relate to that passion.

However, I DO love my Nissan Altima. It is gorgeous and it gets me from point a to point b. The stereo system is fantastic and the payments are bearable. I can drive in style and for the first time in my life I feel a love connection between my ride and myself!!

That cracked me up [feel like a teenager in a 57-year-old body] thing. Funny: That's how I feel. Everybody else on here feel that way too? I wonder.

Welcome Mitzy, the above statement made me laugh...I know exactly what you mean and my other half is 'mostly' good humoured about it...mostly being the operative word!!
The car is fab, fab, fab.....even though I am strictly not a car kinda gal, yours reminds me of the old 'Morris Minor Estates', which my Gramp's used to lovingly restore..and we would go on holiday..all crammed into one. I loved them!!
If I ever get around to taking lessons and doing my test..that is the car kinda I will get. You sound like a big ball of fun...glad you have joined us.
