Hi, Colleen Sell of Cup of Comfort just sent this to me and said I could share it so here goes. She's seeking stories for their latest book:

Call for Powerful, Personal Single-Mom Stories!

As Oprah Winfrey has often said, parenting is the most difficult and important job in the world -- even more so for single mothers, who single-handedly face all the usual parenting challenges, plus a whole set of unique ones. Though being a single mom can be tough at times, it also brings many joys and rewards, and the positive aspects and outcomes of single motherhood too often go unrecognized.

So ... the editor of the bestselling Cup of Comfort (Adams Media) book series is seeking personal stories for publication in an anthology that honors and celebrates single mothers. We want slice-of-life stories that read like compelling fiction and that both entertain and inspire readers. Any topic goes, and stories can be dramatic or humorous or both. All submissions must be original, positive, and based on real people and actual events.

* Deadline: March 20, 2007

* Story Length: 1000-2000 words

* $500 grand prize; $100 for each other story published in book

* Simultaneous submissions accepted

* Authors may submit multiple stories

* Each submission must include:

Author's name

Author's mailing address

Author's phone number

Author's email address

Story title

Story wordcount

Submit by email or mail:

EMAIL: Copy and paste the story into the body of the email; no attachments. One story per email. Send to wordsinger@aol.com

MAIL: Send a printed copy of the story (no CDs or disks) and an SASE to:

Hey Medtype
Your picture looks familiar. Where in the Midwest do you live. Tell us more about yourself.

Barb, this looks very interesting. Thanks.

I worked with Colleen Sell when I had a story accepted for another Cup of Comfort book she edited. She's great to work with.

Hello Ladies! I have been perusing BWS for over a year now and love this site. So much warmth and wisdom written here! I am very busy working as an MT and as I am paid on production I MUST limit my time cruising the amazing Internet! But, I do get quick little fixes here and there throughout my day and try to find some time to do a wee bit of writing.

Anno, I live in southern Illinois, 20 minutes from St. Louis and five hours from Chicago (where my #2 daughter lives, attending UIC). Daughter #1 is nearby and I am lucky to be able to spend much time my two grandsons. Hard to believe I am a grandma, but I have adjusted well. Hehehehe.

Thanks for the welcome!
