I'm trying to lose weight (aren't we all?) and have been cutting out the sugar in my diet. I'm such a chocoholic that this is very difficult.

My friend told me about sugar-free candies, such as made by Russell Stover. I picked some up and they were very tasty, but the calories are quite high, and they include lots of sugar alcohols.

The bag I have now is Toffee Squares - chocolate covered toffees. A serving is 3 pieces, and there are 160 calories, 11g fat, 21 carbs and 20g sugar alcohol.

Does anyone know if sugar alcohol is truly sugar free? What's the difference in how it affects my health? I'd rather eat a few Dove dark chocolates. Help?
